I think you two are disagreeing about terminology. You're the ecpert in the field, which (correctly) makes you more sensitive to terminological distinctions. What's not disputed I guess, is the commonly (to CS-educated engineers)

I don't think there is a market for cars without micro electronics. Especially not with the rise of electric cars. FPGA's are several orders of magnitude more expensive than mass-produced electronics. Modern cars contain more than

I would think even entirely deterministic systems need to be treated probabilistically if you don't have perfect information.

I offer one crude definition: intelligence is a requirement for an agent that can solve a wid range of problems, without being specifically designed for these problems.

Not just the compounding, but also the spreading of risk, if I understand well. Which is the point with any kind of conservative pension plan.

It's a dumb choice to even have to make, if your profits are more than enough to not have to make it. However it's their right to make it. If they want to run their company into the ground like that, why not.

Is the actual medical care so much more expensive in the US than in Europe? I'm not talking about the insurance system or anything like that, I'm talking about the actual hospitalization cost. My twins spent six weeks in NICU in a

Cars have ridiculously much electronics in them and you cannot "print" those just like that in a small shop. Have you seen how big wnd expensive a wafer fab is?

I've never met these elusive mysterious men in the software industry that are negative towards women, or towards the idea of women working in the software industry. I have however met plenty of women (high school era mostly) who were v

We do all our image processing using floats (as memory and disk storage - not as computation accumulators obviously). It helps a lot if you keep a dozen seventy-megapixel images in memory, because it means you can run twice as many jobs on
