I've seen this around, Meta/FB for example currently are hiring people anywhere and letting them work remotely because of current circumstances but you have to declare that you're open to relocation and pick a "home offi

Hah it'd be even funnier if it was able to use their "report" functions to report the ads as the spam they are.

Additionally I have seen multiple articles or heard managers talk about having an open document between themselves and the report that they "own" and can fill up with stuff and as an IC/report I just don't see where I&#x

Maybe they did good work and felt proud of it and thought the hiring managers could look past the content of the product of the company and look at the real work needed to deliver that product.

It's particularly awful on mobile where you get Google's "smart" cards which can be ads, followed by ads then the actual results which are mostly SEO trash. Trying to find support for Google Fiber routers was nearly impo

I just gave up on going for any internal offers. If the effort even approaches applying elsewhere, I'll do that. I'm likely to actually get paid more and a better title instead of more jerking around as managers are won't to

It's made even worse if you have internal job postings and then route these people through the same process as new hires. What do I need to be filling in my resume and work history for? I work for you.

Yeah because people stopped developing any backend solutions for Python or Ruby because Django and Ruby on Rails exist.

It's not Reddit specifically but those different subreddits growing to the point where the most "engaging" stuff wins and that always becomes the low-effort memes and stuff. Hacker News has had a slower decline in quality bec

See also Youtube/Spotify/etc view/listen/impression farms. It really does make it so much noise, you can pretty much guarantee any large scale account is using these too and bot followers because it's an arms race f

It's always felt like something that should be regulated away. Ads should be very distinct not a single tiny text label saying "sponsored" but 100% distinct from any non-ad content.

Reading this doc it feels like the Prettier team is saying options like tabs/spaces were only added early on to get initial adoption, if it were up to them now there would be far less options to configure at all.

The Prettier team has gone on to say they regret giving people several of the configuration options they did though and have a page dedicated to their option philosophy. https://prettier.io/docs/en/option-philosoph

All of American social services seem designed to delay, deny and deprive from some fear of "welfare queens."

I imagine it's a smaller version of the American cars vs Japanese cars attitude that really peaked during the 70s and 80s. It's still around to this day where you meet people who are Chevy or Ford die-hards and hate all cars Japan

They were also stupidly priced in 2010 still. The cheapest drives that could do blu-ray were still $100+ and a CD/DVD was maybe $30.

I was thinking the same thing once they got to that point! Our "logger" is literally a library from DataDog, but Sentry has similar (we actually migrate from Sentry to DataDog at my job) and there's tons of other services now

A lot of it has been that COVID exposed how many industries were relying on Just In Time fulfillment so then when the demand spiked because people were home isolating the supply wasn't there. I recall a particular story about the toile

I think that the React devtools haven't kept up with how hooks work. They let you look at your props and state as they are now but not look at the "timeline" like something like the Redux devtools do. My struggle debugging is

Even capitalization is a pain in the ass thanks to how OSes treat file names. I pretty much stick with either `file-name.ext` or `file_name.ext` exclusively now.

The same is true of its advertisements. 'High-profile' organizations get freedom to literally spam you and the report action is meaningless.

Given how often you are also routed to the same application process as externals and the effort required to fill out those applications you may as well apply elsewhere too.

Plus the barriers they put up to apply. You're already in the organization yet 90% of the time you get sent to the exact same application process as an external hire so now you need to waste time filling out your work history, updating

Internal Job applications suck. 90% of the time you're routed to the same application systems as external applicants and you then need to fill out the whole application, upload resumes, etc. If I have to do all that why not just apply

So the question is how do we create a space for something like this? I don't think most people consider this kind of music as a "performance" it's just the RIAA dictating stuff.

Also think registration fees shouldn't just be based on a year of a car. If someone has a 2020 Toyota Corolla why is registering it just as much as registering a 2020 Mercedes S63. I think generally economical cars should cost the lowe
