jq is nice for scripting and debugging. If you have a backend powered by JSON or YAML and you need to do some debugging/eyeballing, writing a custom scripts... jq is there. I guess I'll have to write my tool for this :-)

Have a tool which understands the structure and can put certain arguments from the command line into the correct hierarchy of JSON/YAML? Think: sed's 'i' command for these formats basically.

You should sit with them and explain what it really means to your business what they're doing. If it doesn't help, you should probably hire a senior person to teach the rest of your team what software engineering is all about. I d

Good point, since I forgot. It's a BSDv2 code. Credit goes to you: https://github.com/wkoszek/mini_printf/commit/1fbf606cb23f2e...

I agree it's a mistake. I made the change to the README.md and gave you a credit for spotting it. https://github.com/wkoszek/mini_printf/commit/fb096cabb5dcba...

The problem is that I didn't want to make this code depend on stdint.h So yeah - depending on the platform you will need to make u32/u64 point to things from your stdint.h (or whatever that is) and the code should work.

No worries. I like a direct feedback I get from HN readers and don't take it personally. Honestly I haven't analyzed miniz in detail: I found it was one of the choices, so I looked around and used it. Keeping stuff simple is very

That's a good point. The thing is that I've used a ready-to-use GZIP library (miniz) for building my API on top of it. I agree some parts of miniz are not necessary. I will put a note in my repo to point out your links.

In general miniz library was so-so to work with. e.g.: if you need to go and actually understand something, it was subpar experience.
