Yeah you describe it very well. VRChat is not perfect, it has a lot of rough edges. But it's buzzing with activity. People enjoy themselves. Do sometimes weird stuff but not bother anyone. It's like the real world. Horizons is a b

Eh wait I requested them and I'm still very much in favour of them. Having the right to privacy is a big one. With chat control yes, that was totally evil. But I consider GDPR and DSA/DMA forces of good. The idea that there's

I see the opposite. A lot of US people trying to move here now that it's becoming unliveable there for eg trans people. I'm kinda in an lgbt bubble but still. I myself have informed my employer I will no longer even travel to the

True but Poland did come from a really really deep hole under the thumb of the Soviets. They were very thoroughly screwed over. I guess this is why Poland is the most anti russian country in the EU now (and rightly so) Just saying that grow

It's not a race anyway. The Americans always make things into one. But it's mainly their obsession with being "number one". Being number two or three is just fine. We will catch up. What I'm more worried about is th

Exactly. Also, whatever those AI leaders invent, two months later the whole world has it. I mean when GPT 3.5 came out it seemed amazing, but requiring a 8x Nvidia N100 or whatever guaranteed that id never have it at home. A year or so late

Not directly though. They get some exceptions and they have referenda to implement things. They align with the EU a lot for commercial reasons but not completely. Same with Norway. And really, if they did align completely there'd be no

6Ghz will suck for mobile due to the incredibly bad building penetration. One of the reasons that makes it pretty ideal for indoor WiFi.

This is terrible. The gdpr needs reform yes but it should be tightened. And definitely no giving in to US big tech demands.

It's a big differentiator with horizon worlds I think. They have an in world builder so you don't have to learn unity. On the other hand horizon is super restricted in what you can do, is way too heavily moderated and rubber tiled

I'm running the Win10 version (the latest for that). I will doublecheck, I'm sure I saw the windows store. Mainly running it because my skylake NUC is no longer supported by Win11. And it still works totally fine for programming m

LTSC is not as good as it used to be. There's no "all telemetry off" button, there's still a Windows store in the latest version. You still can't turn updates off. I guess you can do these things in group policies b

On that subject I really miss deep technical publications these days. Anandtech is gone and it was already down the hole when its namesake left for Apple. Ars never was really deep but it seems more shallow these days. Here in Europe we had

True, climate change isn't only bad. Some parts will actually benefit at least for humans (local fauna will have more issues). It's climate change , not climate destruction. In the 60s the Soviets actually considered damming off

Yeah and a 'host' back then wasn't a cheap PC or something, they tended to be $30000 workstations or $300000 servers. At tech companies and Universities only, and mostly in the US. 60k sounds like a lot for those days. It gre

Apple isn't really BSD. The mach kernel is very different. There's some shared heritage dating back to nextstep but it's very deep. And some userland. But that's really all.
