Some countries have vote by mail. Many US states do as well. In the US our voting is on a work day, which is not given off by law. State politicians also control where polling locations are placed and how they are staffed, which leads to si

Oh, and regarding what type of companies. For me the primary factor right now is remote. I plan on being remote for the rest of my career. That’s my number one priority when looking at companies to join.

I’m on my fifth company of my career. Every job I’ve joined as an IC. My first job I got because I interned and they wanted me to join full time. My second job I joined as a straight SE. My third job was via an acquisition of the second com

Join companies with problems worth solving, add value as quickly as possible, and then find problems that you can tackle and start advocating to be granted the latitude to tackle them. Most companies and teams are thrilled to have people wh

Despite the answers below, it’s not an IQ question (I likely have an above average IQ, but nothing remotely special). If I see a problem, particularly in a business context (I’m not a trained scientist curing cancer here), I can solve it. W

Other than GDP cratering in Q2 or massive unemployment, with incomes only remaining stable because we gave the vast majority of Americans $1,200 checks and $2,400 income boost if they were unemployed? We're not even in the first inning

Certainly not discouraging this, so thank you for pointing it out. I do the same, and sometimes I need to do something manually so that I can grok what configurations I need to define in terraform / whatever other tool I'm using.

This is the correct design pattern as of 2020. Roles + STS, and always be stingy when granting a role any permissions, both at the resource or API level. But, as others have said, the documentation at times is poor at best, and it can be ea

It’s possible, but you’d be better off spending the $50 on a true GPU in almost all situations and using it in lieu of the onboard graphics. Just from a lifespan perspective on the CPU, better to offload that work and not pin the CPU for ho

The IHME model is proving to be wildly inaccurate on the downslope due to bad data coming out China. Their projections will continue to creep up in terms of deaths over the next few weeks because the predicted drop offs won’t be happening,

In fairness to the poster, this is the refrain you’d hear from many CNBC hosts all day, political appointees, etc. I’m old enough to remember the same positivity as the financial crisis unfolded, so I try to remind myself that public offici

Just because the cause of a crisis wasn’t financial, doesn’t mean that it doesn’t trigger a financial crisis. Financial systems are not impervious to medical disasters just because they aren’t financial in nature.

I advertise a lot on LinkedIn- they aren’t selling your email address (at least not that I’ve seen). It wouldn’t be in their financial interest to do so. Their goal is to get you to do outreach on their platform, which requires use of credi
