Highly recommend http://www.econtalk.org/ regardless of preference between Chicago or Keynes. While the host is of a Chicago bent, the interviewees come from across the spectrum. I've been a regular listener for almost

If you’re an alcoholic and drink daily, it can be very dangerous to stop cold turkey. If this is more of a lifestyle change, where you drink a few times a week but want to cut it out, I’d say (with zero scientific justification whatsoever)

I read your comment, kept going with my morning, but then felt compelled to come back. You might not see this given it’s a throw away, but I hope you do. As someone who has lost family members to alcohol (both figuratively while they were l

Yes, sorry for just tossing this one in there. Our product is build on top of rails 5.x, and rails has support for turbolinks. They make your server-side rendered application 'Feel' more SPA, by only refreshing the parts of the pa

I've looked at PWA & working with offline, but it's an optimization I'd like to have, not one that we absolutely need. Right now, given how crunched we are for resources, everything I work on has to fall into the category

I’m the founder writing code (but not the only technical person) for my three person startup. In October I started migrating our MVP from server side templates to Vue, given we had direction and traction on a product line that justified the

I'd really recommend taking a look at BigQuery, as I think it could address at least the inefficient query trigger extreme load. It'd be great to have you report back your experiences as well. The GCP podcast team just did a good

I think it’s important throw an addendum onto that statement. “They will, and it is a good thing. Although there may be some short term downsides we should look to mitigate.” I love to listen to economics podcasts and read economic article

The startup I co-founded is about six months old, and our first hire starts on Monday. Core values and our mission have been something my co founder and I have discussed very regularly, and probably comes up in one way or another every week

As someone who helped design, then manage a massive NoSQL store which hundreds of terabytes of data, of which most of it was hot, I’ll humbly disagree and say it’s not necessarily as bad as you make it sound. Did we have someone who managed

For my senior thesis in undergrad (2008), I used graphviz as part of my tooling for visualizing graph algorithms. I held onto that code and it still chills in GitHub (although I wouldn’t be intro’d to github till grad school a year later).

Thanks for the education on MemSQL. I wasn’t aware of the analytics use case (had never come up in discussions I was a part of for that tech), so it was news to me. This article had a nice overview. Somewhat outdated but mostly still up to

I’m not sure I agree with this statement. BigQuery is not in memory, nor is redshift (not super familiar with snowflake). Whereas memsql is and would be prohibitively expensive to operate on datasets that are analytics based, because it is
