Huh always thought because of the blue LEDs it was electronic and dismissed it as "nice but would have been better if mechanical", turns out it it's actually a feat of mechanical clockmaking.

Oh go on then, a duopoly with fairly entrenched user bases and no real chance of additional players.

There is a UI problem on GH with forks. (From my limited experience) most profiles that are full of forks the person just uses forks like they would stars. No branches or PRs made. I'd guess, cynically, this is to fill out their profil

Hits the nail on the head so perfectly. It's why we're using Figma at work after a mix of Indesign/Sketch/Zeplin/Dropbox PDFs.

Have tried, works well. Does have a weird quirk where it'd detect two devices for each speaker, an IPv4 and v6 address. Only the v4 worked and both had the exact same name, mildly irritating. Did try and find docs on disabling discover

Gave up on chromecast for audio recently, had too many issues with discovery of the client. Now using shairport (via the excellent hifiberry os and picoreplayer) on RPis and AirMusic on Android. Seems a bit silly to be using an Apple protoc

Honestly quite like the lack of GUI on mpv. It's my quick viewer for media files and does that job very well. I have a few of the keyboard shortcuts memorised but if I need much more than the basics that's when I reach for VLC.

The "basic bitches" version of the site should be the base, this is a gov website which will be used by the older demographic first. This article got posted here recently: https://shkspr.mobi/blog/2021/01

Run a DNS server linked to your DHCP. I have a Pi-Hole set up which maps every device on the network to <hostname>.mydomain.uk. If I don't like the hostname (some IoT devices don't allow changing it) I can map a different na

Why would there be "change" in a Bitcoin transaction? Is this: send me £10 in BTC but actually send me £15 in case the price changes and I'll send you back the difference.

Found this relatively recently, seems to do a good job. Do love how more consumer services (ISPs &c) always have some report of being down somewhere but its means nothing unless there's a big spike.

Been using https://www.picoreplayer.org/ for a few years after my real Squeezebox hardware died. May take a look at this one for Spotify support. What I really want is something that can do LMS/Squeezebox and be a Goog

Had similar and switched to a cheap used desktop. I was running Home Assistant [1] and my guess is the constant writing of state history into the database slowly killed the card. [1]: https://www.home-assistant.io/

Do you type the repo name, or just copy/paste or select/middle click it? Half of me would want them to put `user-select: none` on that text. The other half has to archive 10+ repos and would hate that!
