Curious where PornHub and other sites rank. I always hear how that porn sites are in the top X of all traffics but people don’t talk about due to its nature. I’m always amazed that they have a data science team. It’s not something many woul

You’re going to have to grind Leetcode. Yes, even the dynamic programming problems. You will have to interview for jobs where you will use a language you despise. Maybe even Java. Definitely Javascript. You might need to co

AMC+, which costs $8.99 a month for a subscription, does not run ads. How many of these are there going to be? I don’t want a $200 cable bill but I also don’t want dozens of subscriptions. I’ll subscribe to a few streaming service

About 5 years ago I tore my ACL and had it repaired a few months ago over the the summer. I’ve done a lot of PT rehab over the past few months and my PT mentioned that ice reduces blood flow, heat increases blood flow. It wasn’t so much an

I’m not sure about the off the beaten path as general advice. There’s people who will always go off the beaten path because that’s what they do. Getting around and finding things to do in large cities is much easier than rural ones. I love

Niche items are pretty much a miss on Amazon. I buy a lot of things on Amazon but as a hobbyist cook and knife collector something like whetstones are much better purchased at a specialty retailer. I trust a shop like japaneseknifeimports.c

Japanese phones get left out of the conversation because these topics spin into nostalgia and the Western audience doesn’t have any experience with them. Likewise the JP discussion wouldn’t fondly remember all the Nokia variants. On a side

Software has been in cars for a long time but I worry about its pervasiveness, especially as it applies to the lifetime of cars. I have a 1997 car that I keep for sentimental reasons and I like its “rawness” compared to my 2017 daily driver

If you visit Chicago in the winter, the absolute worst part of the year, you’ll miss what makes Chicago great. The beautiful summers are so great it makes the winters tolerable. For example I always take visitors on a river/lake boat t

Why is it that Google Analytics is often listed in “strictly necessary cookies”? I’ve never known that to be a requirement for handling cookie based seasons or logins.

This is a great topic. I really like that many approachable and accessible (read: non-textbooks) have come out in recent years. Examples like Thorsten Ball’s Writing a Compiler/Interpreter in Go books and Bob Nystrom’s Crafting Interpr

I’ve never taken organic chemistry but I always hated classes where the discussion after getting test results went like this: “Aw man, I got a 40.” “That’s great, most people got 20s, that’s the highest score”

The minidisc was for many things right for portable music. The audio quality was great, indistinguishable from CD to me, and any minor detail gets washed out when riding on the train or walking on a street. CDs are great but not a portable

The first edition of this book was a game changer. I still have my hardcopy paperback but haven’t turned to it in years. It’s probably largely out of date but I look at it fondly. Glad to see the material updated with new APIs and Python 3.
