It’s crazy that we saw the birth and demise of a technology in our lifetime.

There is something extremely addictive about flipping channels on TV. I think it's the magic formula behind the popularity of TikTok. It's not "yet another social media app", it's TV re-invented.

I was an avid Firefox user, until it started adding services that I never asked for, namely Pocket. Things that should have been an add-on were now a core feature of the product.

This is not a game; it’s a sci-fi novel about AI and self-replicating machines masquerading as a game. Love it!

Where is the interface between the soul and the brain? How do they communicate? Why and how the chemical changes in the brain changes the character and psyche of a person if it comes from the incorruptible soul?

Also, even if the metaphysical soul existed, they needed to interface with the physical entities somehow. In other word, if the soul is in control of the brain, and thus requires some form of communication with the brain, which enters into

I used to believe that completely, until I got to experience my grandmother's Alzheimer's and Dementia. Nothing disproves the idea of a ever-lasting, metaphysical soul, like seeing it crumble before your eyes as various parts of b

It's easy to forget that after all, our brain is just a complex chemical machine. Introduce a new chemical into it, and everything about you can change. There is no abstract "self" inside. Our mind is just a function of our b

The thing about us and chimps is that we're not competing species. The gap between us is wide enough that we can fill different niches. BUT if chimps were competing with us, either us or them would go where Neanderthals went.

A very good question, and a very hard question to answer. From a point of view of a horse, a super horse is just a faster horse. A 2000cc super-bike is incomprehensible to a horse, because it exists in a different category of speed. I think

Yes, a single chimp is physically stronger than a human, but the human can come up with 100 different ways to kill the chimp, and most of those methods would be unfathomable for the chimp. e.g. try to explain death by poison to a chimp.

Maybe not, but can a group of Neanderthals with spears contain you riding a M1 Abrams battle tank?

Any AI that can be contained by humans is not intelligent enough that needs containment. Any AI that is intelligent enough that needs containment can’t be contained by humans.

Whatever the US Congress comes up with wouldn't matter in the long run. I don't think other countries would line up for licenses for building AI. At this point, it's like trying to control the weather.
