Sure thing, was just curious since you mentioned rails. Django's ORM is pretty similar (auto generated migrations, super easy relations, etc).

I've had Fable add Chinese characters to our conversation for no reason.

Were you actually involved in the hiring? What is qualified? College degree and $30/hr? I know people who are actively looking for data analyst roles. Email me

It's mostly the result of hiring too many stupid product managers and engineers that don't give a shit. Even if you didn't read the code if you cared even an ounce you wouldn't ship this crap.

Some related things I noticed just today: - the close button in outlook is HIDDEN until you move the window - in Gdrive they list the selected filename at the bottom. They have the entire page width to show the file name. It truncates at li

This laptop is plenty powerful enough. The N150[0] is similar single threaded to some 8th gen i7s which many still use to code (including myself). Should run many claude sessions at once, too. I am not sure I'd want to compile large Ru

A used x1 carbon is a better deal, faster, and weighs about the same with a bigger screen.

Seems like a clear regression over 4.7 so far. Every time I tell Claude to review a git changeset for performance or security issues, it just starts doing random stuff: test -f /tmp/aaa.txt && echo "AAA-EXISTS";

I remember my first full time frontend job I applied to in like 2013 the job listing said I should know ember, backbone, and angular. I was kind of living out of my car so I just studied up a bunch on Ember at the time at random Starbucks.

I usually just generate the MCP server spec from existing openapi/swagger spec, maybe with a filter to omit certain endpoints and so on.

jpackage/jlink lets you distribute an exe, dmg, etc, with the JVM packaged inside. I have java desktop apps which are like 50mb.

Rust has autocomplete even in Sublime Text with an LSP... not quite as good as with Java, but I don't write either by hand much anymore.

You can not use async right? Maybe not with axum but I imagine there are fully blocking frameworks for rust.

It was probably the right call at the time with low bandwidth. Nowadays I bet flash would execute faster than most js heavy sites :D

You know the military is composed of citizens right? Our largest spending category is Social Security at 22%, Medicare at 14%, and then there's Veterans Benefits at 6%. So most of the money spent is for the people. Defense is 13%.

Power is the biggest factor. Efficiency helps. I bet they're more efficient than most people think, it just doesn't scale linearly.
