(to be fair the memory manager reuses memory, so it's not calling out to malloc all the time, but yes a manually-managed impl. will be much more efficient)

Luckily most people wouldn't use zlib anyway, they'd use snappy or zstd, and this also requires authenticated access to the cluster ....

My no PWM laptops look fine to me for watching movies. Sure, less efficient. But if I can't look at it for more than 30 seconds without my eyes burning then what's the point?

Basically the issue is that it will "forget" what directory it's in and run "rm".

Single thread performance is important for many workloads. It's not nonsense. Things like index builds on an i4g vs i4i could be half as slow. That's really important! I don't know why you continue to be a fucking asshole. It

Groan. Absolutely not. :) c8g passmark score: 1853 c8i passmark score: 3008 I guess the fps column isn't a good representation of single thread score. Also looking at the passmark scores for i4i vs i4g, i4g is about 1k and intel is abo

The Graviton5 instances I've been comparing to intel are the same price...

Also, use the ffmpeg fps column to check single threaded score.

Not true at all. Single thread CPU scores for Graviton2 are about half that of Intel, while only being about 20% cheaper at best.

My sweet spot are thinkpads that are a couple years old, usually. Especially the workstations. You can save a grand or so and they're pretty serviceable.

Current gen base model Chevy vehicles don't have smart screens, just some basic UI for the reverse camera/radio etc.

It's actually pretty simple. For the former case, you do nothing. Tell the university to find someone to make the improvement, or do it for fun. In the latter case, you should be charging 5-10x that, for starters... You send a Statemen

So far this seems like a huge downgrade from Opus 4.1. Please add back 4.1 as an option...

I didn't forget. That's predictable. It happens when the application code does something, or stops doing something, as opposed to the moving collector just doing it at random times.

I'll never get back into daily morning caffeine. If anyone sees me doing this again regularly, you can just slap me. :) I try to keep it to once or twice a week at most, and around lunch time, as I still like coffee. But this way you d

This. I went to install Linux on a brand new $3k ThinkPad, to do this you had to disable dedicated Nvidia graphics during the install. Doing this on the the included bios bricked the machine and it spent two months getting the motherboard

At FastComments we have Mongo deployed across three continents and four regions on dedicated servers with full disk encryption, across two major providers just incase. It was setup by one person. Replication lag is usually under 300ms.

Corvette?? Tahoe?? My manual Spark is pretty fun and beats Civic Sis and other fast cars in rallycross. I have done 100+ redline clutch dumps in that car. It still drives fine.

Hard to say. A $800 desktop could easily equal the compute of $100k/mo in lambda costs.
