I think if you ask 5 people what dumb (enough) phone meant you'd get seven answers. For some anything after SMS is not dumb enough (ok, this still exists), others would be ok with just a browser, and you said Maps and WA/etc/

I've had this (first) work mac for 2 years and the upside is that every new version is usually only slightly worse than a new Windows version, which is generally a big step down. For Linux I've been kinda indifferent for 15 years.

One of the releases was that, though - either 9 or 11, with the package reorgs that broke everything. OK... it wasn't fast. But Java 8 was stable (as in APIs, not judging its quality here) and since then it's gotten good again.

Because this is about having a local standin for S3, which (in a production deploy) often solves a different problem than a (local) filesystem. This post does not even mention the S3 API as a replacement for a filesystem.

Just not being able to use one application is better than your whole OS going up in smoke every couple weeks. Yes, Windows 95A on the wrong hardware (and how would you know?) did that.

I'm not sure it's really snarky. In large parts of Germany stores have been closed on Sundays for most of my life (and where I live also after 20:00) and yes, going into town or to IKEA on a Saturday is actually a meme sometimes.

Yeah. HDMI sometimes shows the same signs of whatever is happening as DP. I still miss the old binary (works/doesn't work) nature of D-SUB and DVI. No autonegotiations or any "need to reset the power on the monitor"...
