It’s paid by task. I used to make $7 an hour doing almost mindless tasks while I was watching TV. But if I went to the bathroom I’d lose out so my effective pay was lower, not to mention I’d get a 1099 on my $300 a year I made or whatever.

Ah thanks for the info! Yes that would likely substantially narrow it down, I didn’t recognize him but there was at least a clue.

That’s fun. Although a picture indoors seems unfair. Somehow I knew one of the pictures had to be West Virginia and got within 40 miles. But the indoor one I got the exact opposite of the country because how are you supposed to tell? Litera

As an American it’s pretty awesome when I eat a particularly good street truck gyro after a night of drinking. I saw a vulture outside yesterday. I thought that was pretty amazing! I’d never seen one before. I was pretty excited yesterday t

Maybe? My wife has been using it to give her recipe ideas. She can’t eat onions and things with sulfites so it’s super user for filtering out ingredients that would make her sick without having to comb over a list. So far the recipes have b

They’ve already done that in a way, I can only watch 720p on mobile with safari + Adblocker and it always always between each video resets to 360p unless I tap to change it every time. To get higher res than that I have to download the app.

I doubt this will happen but then again I never saw “Gas Station TV” (the most obnoxious ads ever at the fill pump) coming. I saw a brand new machine for measuring blood pressure at the store and sat down because why not. It had unskippable

Interesting. So products that use AI generation as pet of an API, say using a diffusion model to generate different stylings for the walls and textures for a level creator, would fall under this? Guess it’s time to ask for forgiveness rathe

It’s been super easy for me to recruit people from my network. Yesterday texted an old friend and he straight up said “sign me up”. Just placed another friend who was extremely competent at our previous job but he got swept up in layoffs. B

It would have avoided it! I was using tab and forgot to select .pub as you correctly surmised. I was a junior dev at the time and all the seniors got a good laugh out of it, and I use it as a cautionary tale about trying to be TOO overeager

I love this tool too! except one time I quickly typed `cat ~/.ssh/mykey | pbcopy` And sent it straight away to my coworker on Slack. I then spent the rest of the day making a new private key and adding my new pubkey to all of the

Depends on what level of criminal you are. I’m sure there’s some rich criminal boss in Belarus that could certainly get away with displaying it. Maybe later he’ll sell it to Putin for a literal ton of gold bars. Right now the Russians are p

As someone who doesn’t know the “why” but uses Stable diffusion a lot and has an intuitive feel for the “what” of what happens, it’s like trying to use a low res pattern for your wallpaper on Windows. It’ll either just repeat over and over

By the time you’re 28 it’ll be impossible to be a ”skilled” gamer as your reaction times will start to slow down due to being a “senior gamer”. No amount of expensive gaming peripherals on PC or XBox can stop this. Biology catches up fast,

Haha this is funny as it reads exactly like the checklist of why I bought a PS5 after playing PC games for the longest. Which like, we’re adults here and I don’t care what console you have, more power to you. I think we’re both comparing to

I really tried the whole Steam with big picture mode a few years ago. I had a 2080Ti and mostly ended up with micro stuttering in AAA titles, it took months of swapping out parts to finally get it halfway stable, then I discovered the power

They’re so cheap for what you get! I walked into a Walmart and for ~$600 USD including tax I got a AAA game (God of War Ragnarok) and a console ready to play it. As someone who built a high end gaming PC and skipped the PS3/360 and PS4

Personally my fondest memories of EVE (as someone with a 2009 character) are when we managed to get the drop on someone and absolutely ruin their day. Someone flying around with a $300 ship who should not be out there in the depths of space

Congrats! You’re winning at EVE. Personally I only found EVE Online fun when I was making it not fun for other people. Like the time I made friends with some guys, spent a few months playing with them, then robbed them blind and blew up all

Looks like the current version with the really deep dive is from somewhere between 2020-2021 based on manually clicking through archive.org. 2020 would probably be more a appropriate tag?

I looked at a brand new house last year with a big gas stove, and it had a big extraction fan over it. I asked where it vented to. “Oh it’s just a carbon filter and recirculates the air”. I couldn’t believe it.
