Saying that it's okay because Apple doesn't stop it does not hold water to me. They shouldn't be required to stop it if it's already against the EULA. There wouldnt be much point in disallowing it if they had already mad

Yes it is but I don't see why the part of Apples EULA saying you can't install MacOS on other hardware would be ruled unenforceable or invalid. Even if that part is invalid, only people with actual Mac computers would be in the cl

I am surprise that almost no one seems to be discussing whether it's right or wrong to be installing MacOS on non-Apple hardware. I'm pretty sure it's against apples EULA. Shouldn't we as software developers care about t

For many people, what you call user-hostile behavior is either a good thing or a neutral, non-bad thing. Most people don't care about upgrading or fixing their hardware anymore than they care about fixing their dishwasher themselves. T

The short answer is because they are a hardware company. Selling software isn't what they do unless it's in support of selling their hardware.

It does mean they can do what they want with your system because the hardware and software are so closely linked. If Microsoft doesn't have the right to control your system then they can't sell you an operation system. That's

Probably not, at least not as much. There's a reason Steve Jobs has always been notorious for this sort of behavior.

I agree with this perspective. I haven't seen anyone present a compelling case as to why a person should own all data about themselves.

I am curious why you think that these companies shouldn't be able to use your data because you paid for the software. Just because you paid for a software license doesn't mean you can do whatever you want with said software. I und

I mean, before these new MacBooks what was the number one complaint on this website about Macs? They don't make pro machines anymore, they don't care about pro users, etc. Now, as soon as they actually do something about that, no

People are so hyperbolic about this whole issue. They have one bad generation of keyboards and people declare that they are selling eye candy, aren't a computer company anymore, etc etc.

The 2017 keyboards have been an improvement over the previous iteration. Less failures. It's also ridiculous to say that they don't care about the Mac when they just released the iMac Pro and are currently designing the new Mac pr

If you get the x220 with an i7 it comes with a single USB 3, in case anyone is looking to purchase one.

The x220 is too heavy for daily carry in my opinion, plus the screen can be pretty bad if you don't get the IPS one. I'd have trouble recommending it to anyone these days unless they were looking for something really cheap.
