Least of all when that ticket is older and so much of the code and the company has changed too. Like sometimes useful historical context sure but worth putting in the first line of a commit? I put it in the body with a link to the ticket or

Yeah the ticket value falls off pretty quickly to me. If I pull that up and it's been a closed issue for years and code has been added, rewritten, people moved, and tons of other changes to where the ticket is just a historical artifac

I see this all the time. people harp on about 'fake it until you make it' when I think the bigger unspoken problem is the tendency to overvalue confidence over competence. I would much rather work with someone who values both conf

To add to that, Google has consistently done invite rollouts in their past like Gmail and Google+ to name a couple.

Couldn't Google just theoretically bake Waze's functionality in Maps and use Google+ for the social layer?

Awesome, but when is the Android app updating to accommodate for tablets? I've seen it in this board ( https://trello.com/board/trello-for-android-development/ ) for a while as a missing feature, but it hasn't seemed to move forward. Any ET

I fail to see how a site that hides downvotes from users with lower karma isn't furthering a hivemind.

Alright, I give up on commenting on this site. Always get downmodded into oblivion when I disagree with the hivemind.

I think he didn't make it clear enough. The system isn't broken, the original source just has a lower pagerank.I fail to see where the issue is. I've seen links rank lower than their relevant HN or Reddit posts on Google before.

That's not broken. If you had website foo.com and then added bar.foo.com you would expect that your pagerank transfer to your subdomain as well. Of course when the owner of pagerank has this apply to them it's suddenly "broken" though huh?

A museum isn't original content. That's not even a question. Museums are collections of content, not content, they may have metadata about their content, but that doesn't constitute it as original content.

Google.com has a high page rank. Thus plus.google.com has a high pagerank, it's not gaming the system. It's just inheriting the pagerank.

I'm not too excited for this shift. Tumblr is terrible because it's just reblogging without any conversation or communication. Pinterest is just more of the same. I really dislike this kind of social media because it's really stepping away

From what I saw this is because a good portion of the Mozilla staff is away for the holiday so they're actually doing the official release in the first week or so of January once they're up to staff. They don't want to do any kind of major

This would have been better as a link to Chris DiBona's Google+ post rather than this article. https://plus.google.com/u/0/114765095157367281222/posts/ZqPv...

Speaking personally as an avid Google+ user, I think that while it's fair to compare the two (Google+ and Facebook) I think they're approaching the same problem from two different angles. Google+ is becoming my source for meaningful posts,

Yeah, I don't understand the fuss. Google said that they were going to tightly integrate all their services with G+ and now they start following through and people start to bitch. They're doing exactly what they said they were going to and

None of this is frustrating and it shouldn't come to a shock to anyone. Google stated that they were going to deeply integrate Google+ into all its products. This is them just following through.

I think people are convinced that services must blow up immediately to be relevant. They forget that even Facebook took time to grow. I remember when it first opened to people outside of colleges and I was an early adopter, there were liter

Maybe I'm just missing something but does anyone else here not give a flying fuck about the "real name fiasco"? What's so damn bad about using your real name? Can't be an internet tough guy when you have to use your real name? The most I th

I agree, anyone who claims they need so many tabs open is flat out lying, you can't possibly be using them all. Bookmarks exist for a reason, and you can do a lot with them. In Firefox there are keywords you can set up as well as Awesomebar

Hey, I know the feeling, it's weird to adjust to but I still haven't filled my 5 Terabytes of space yet so I'm happy. Soon I'm going to offload all my files to a file-server I'm building with an exorbitant amount of HDD space.
