I’m one of those that would rather quit than work in an office. Remote life is too hard to give up now. Im healthier physically and mentally, have more time to spend with friends and family, why would I give that up?

Most crypto-related projects are scams or money-rushes. But SOME will survive and be built after this with all of the learnings of the past few years. This is all very reminiscent of the dot com crash and how media was talking about the int

This is why Remote is great. You have the flexibility, and as long as you get the work you say you'll get done done, who cares if you're literally sitting in a chair from 9-5?

Seems like the bill’s aim is to have more oversight in crypto companies.

You don’t even need to manually proof read.. how these publications don’t require a once-through with something like grammarly is astounding to me.

All of that is valid, but you shouldn't worry about it until it actually becomes a problem. 99% of the struggle for any social network is getting people to use it at all. Those problems you list would actually be great to have to deal

I doubt it. React is a pretty simple library when it comes down to it, it's open source, it's fairly mature and built out as-is, and it's one of the largest contributions to the web that Facebook has ever made. It doesn'

Yeah if you just use commits as they are intended then the complexity of git drops off massively. I’ve used got for a decade and want to know how many times I’ve rebased? Zero

Digital currency is the future even if 99% of the current ones out there are scams or scam-adjacent. To ban all talk about digital currency from a website all about the tech industry is just silly.

This has been my experience so far too. Serverless is amazing, it does require some shift in thought when it comes to backend architecture but once you get there it really does provide everything it promises. Less cost, less complexity (if

The girl is 19 years old and her name is recognizable by most Americans including you. She's a strong voice when it comes to climate change and that's more than you achieved by 19, guaranteed.

I agree. Mastadon is great in theory but when you actually use it you quickly understand why it will never gain traction beyond a certain crowd.

Imagine if instead of using teslas where a person is driving you (lol), they could just do what cities have been doing for centuries and put in a super fast and high capacity metro. I've never understood this idea of "let's g

Is this true? With Simple I believe they were profitable, they just decided to sell to BBVA to grow larger (and to let the founders get a huge pay day). Then BBVA sold to PNC, then PNC absorbed all its users.

It's not about caring about the employer, it's about living my own life. Your work life is most of what you do for several decades of life. I don't want to suffer, barely squeaking by, stressed and at the brink of being fired

No amount of money would make the stress of 3 jobs worth it to me. To constantly be letting down people around me would be depressing, don't care if I'm making 500k/yr.

I went to Chime from Simple, another app bank that eventually got triple-merged into one of the least mobile friendly banks out there. I still have like .12$ in some obscure bank. Recently I moved to use a simple top-5 bank account and it&#

Yeah HN is a bubble within the tech bubble and there seems to be a vocal minority here that derives pleasure for putting others down for making less than 250k TC.

Tesla hasn't given up. If they do they'd have to refund millions to customers who bought FSD. Until they get sued by some large group of customers I think Tesla will act as though it's just over the horizon until some big jum

For tech jobs I'd wager the vast majority operate on a simple salary plus retirement set up. HN is definitely in a bubble where seemingly everyone works at the top tech companies and gets like 175k base + 90k in bonuses and equity.

This is still a good thing because you know the true limit. So instead of thinking "maybe I can get 60k for this job", you can think "maybe I can get 120k for this job".

Yeah this is the problem with meritocracy, it doesn't exist in a vacuum. The reason someone has merit is arguably _only_ due to external factors. You are the way you are because of your DNA and environment. You are who you are because

At a glance, I only see one salary. i Don’t understand applying for jobs that don’t post salary ranges, especially when they’re remote. I’ll just pick the remote job that does post a salary range so I don’t waste my time

I 100% object to code reviews in this way. If you have dignity as a developer you’d quit swiftly.
