Outside lands in SF. The rap shows always get the craziest and I will say after reading more about crowd crushing and crowd collapses I’ll be staying further back from now on. Truly one of those situations where I was thinking “huh, interes

I’ve been to a couple music festivals this year and I experienced the crowd at one of the main stages compressing. One thing that’s not talked about as much is the heat caused by surges. If you’re shorter, I could easily see getting cooked

Such a great deal these execs are getting. Of course the 100M is nice, but not having to deal directly with Musk might be worth more.

I have a friend who's contracted to write some code for Tesla and can confirm. They have certain things that are built well, but sooo much is spaghetti on spaghetti.

Call me old fashioned but if the only benefit of working for a company is their relocation policy I'd rather just get a job I like and pay for myself to relocate if that's what I want to do.

So unsafe. I work with someone who’s very pro-Tesla and she let AP beta drive us around the Seattle area a few times when I visited a while ago. We got into 2 near-accidents. Firstly, the car ran over a cone on the freeway going 65mph+. Sec

Even though I _never_ use it, I absolutely loved learning the basics of a functional language like Haskell. I think that's fed into my love of function-based components in React today.

I wouldn't change a thing. I learned programming by watching youtube videos on how to create a soundboard app for iOS. I ripped audio files from Napoleon Dynamite, hooked it up with near zero knowledge of what I was writing, and launch

Yeah HN is a bubble within the tech bubble that's highly focused, among other things, on making money.

Do you have empirical evidence of this? I struggle to understand how salaries being in a black box helps your chances getting paid more as an employee.

From what I've read on here, you're not missing out on anything great anyway. The money is good, that's about it.

Stage manager being off by default makes sense but it also shows Apple's internal distaste and lack of commitment to it. I'm not updating for a while, has anyone working with code on a daily basis here used it and liked it?

This is why I switched to Spotify 3+ years ago and I'm sad to hear nothing has changed. I was on Apple Music prior for years and it just seemed so stagnant features-wise. Apple needs to apply the Safari treatment to Apple Music and cre

Container queries allow devs to step away from the classic small, medium, large breakpoints for screen sizes and consider the best look for a certain component at different widths. This is much better because a component on screen can be af

Agreed. Sensationalization about important things like this are not only falsy, it tends to make people feel helpless about climate change. This sense of helplessness only serves those that gain by continuing to destroy our planet.

Yeah it seems the only solution is for Apple and Google to truly come together and work on an open standard. At that point, if Apple refuses, it’s on Apple. I agree though, right now it really isn’t a defensible argument from Google.

Love how this is possible in such a clean way now. Layout breakouts are one of those things that look simple, but if done incorrectly can lead to terrible bugs, issues with scrollbars, etc.
