I'm a CA Dem, but wish that the CA GOP would get its act together so there would be a credible threat to this voodoo economics. Right now, the CA GOP is in such a sorry state that many people seeking office switch to Dem to even have a shot

We need either a smarter mix of politicians (not likely), or some bureaucrats that have to review the financial effects and report their findings on all changes to compensation. Then we would need a smarter press corps. That is more do-ab

You don't get it because your premise that all schools are crappy is incorrect. There are good schools, and there are crappy ones, at least by their scores. The big spending happens on the poorest student populations, and the results aren

Maybe the situation is different in Canada. I've been there only a couple times, and it seemed cleaner and wealthier. I'm in an area of L.A. where a lot of families cram into 1 bedroom apartments.

The poor by definition make less than average - and right now they make a lot less than average. A median income earner at around 50k per year makes over three times what a minimum wage worker earning around 15k per year makes. These folks

There are drinkers of all classes, but I think people who have more money drink more alcohol, and more people drink at all. That's been my experience. Just to verify, I did a search on the topic, and research bears it out. http://www.esq

Since wealth won't make the rich happier, but poverty seems to make the poor suffer in very concrete ways (like lacking medical insurance), it would make sense for the poor to be paid better, and the wealthy to have smaller paychecks.

You're deploying a really fucked up stereotype of poor people being heavy drinkers and alcoholics. It's like saying let's go to the ghetto and participate in the culture by doing something self-destructive and negative. That kind of slumm

I don't think that's a fair characterization. Most of the teetotalers and very light drinkers I've met in my life are or were working class or poor people. I think middle class people drink more than poor people. If you go to a party wit
