Windows is a paid product, FOSS is not. Plus you not only cannot, it's also illegal to fix the security bug yourself in Windows. Meanwhile, if someone needs something changed in FOSS they are free to do it themselves (it wasn't ev

You are absolutely correct, but there are groups within companies that don't work like that. Finding them is the hard part :|

The best software I've ever used is git and it's FOSS. The closed source alternatives don't even come close, even on niche usecases.

In order to hash the string you need to access all of its characters, ergo O(n). I agree with you that this sounds weird, but if you imagine arbitrarily long strings as inputs, and don't want to have a lot of collisions, you need to ta

Even in the public sector, you run the committee once, finalise the questions and that's it. The OP means that in Google they repeat this process many times (I don't know if you can infer as much from the article)

What does it mean to "sell" gun control (I get that you mean "promote")? Can someone profit from it and how?

I can introduce you to multiple developers who love agile, including me. Believe it or not, if you asked me before I joined my current team, I would say that agile is corporate BS and I detest it, but turns out I was wrong. You can do whate

In theory, Apple could still offer products that last many years AND are upgradeable, so that they only get partially converted to waste.

It wasn't even social shunning, just a political defence against extreme popularity to prevent tyranny. After the expiration of ostracism you could rejoin Athens exactly as you were before.

As a fellow person who also likes to notice fallacies, I'd advise you not to point them out, because it usually has a negative effect on convincing your interlocutor.

It's the same way that the news can get biased without corruption. If you disagree with the boss, they can find someone who agrees.

For those wondering what "accountability" and "responsibility" should look like: They do not need to mean punishment, they can just mean "clear, concrete intent for remediation and improvement". The remediation
