They basically have blessed it as much as you could reasonably expect them to. With careful hardware selection you will have no issues. My only recommendation, in general, is to use a USB audio device rather than integrated audio.

I don't think it's necessary. When I was in high school you could elect to take a more or less challenging course load. I effective did go to a different school than many of my peers simply by taking different classes.
