Must be a placeholder? But you briefly made me think it was some sort of Apple-specific currency. We really aren’t that far away from “Apple Bucks” are we?

What's the exact mechanism of failure here? How does a minor fuel spill result in a fire?

I can't believe this is it. But this is it. Too bad there's no quick toggle to turn it back on? It's possible to create a shortcut for it maybe. I currently have a back tap bring up a menu of different shortcuts I use. Shortc

HOLY shit. You just changed my life. You're absolutely right. It fixed the exact problem I could never quite pin down. I guess the keyboard was always a bit too eager to detect a swipe? This is absolutely nuts edit: i can type withou

Because the exact same feature is available on the Android version. No other ios keyboard has it. And the default ios keyboard doesn't have it. I'm not sure of another reason.

Oh and it's distinctly worse on the iOS 26 beta. Certain text boxes (like HN) are a nightmare. I used to smoothly type without looking on iOS. It was like magic. Now, it's just a mess. I think gboard on Android is the current top

Veritasium is another popular creator that would overlap with the HN audience. It deliberately uses different thumbnails and titles when videos are new. It's a human (afaik) using the A/B suggestions in the back end. So it's

That's what the subscriptions feed is. But in practice (when one subscribes to a lot of creators) it isn't always useful.

The article mentions "Technology Connections titled 'Algorithms Are Breaking How We Think'" I'm a huge fan of the channel, and that video is mostly great and insightful. But his being "puzzled" at the way

iOS must have changed some things related to keyboards. On an iPhone many years ago it was definitely a better experience. I’m not sure if some sort of predictive text gets in the way or what. Or maybe something with the spacing. Or it also

Why are notifications on iOS such a nightmare? It’s impossible to properly read just a selection or to quickly dismiss many at once.

People are a lot more supportive of war when it’s so far removed. People hear of kids dying in “bombings” but ignore the reality that it means they were: crushed, burned to death, dismembered, etc etc.

I'm surprised Apple hasn't used the strap to extend the battery life. Is that a thing with an aftermarket strap or for phones from other providers?

$2 bills?? You’re gonna get the occasional one who thinks you’re scamming them. It’s crazy that Canada, being so similar to the US, got rid of the 1 and 2 like 30 years ago.

Since when does google give your primary sources for simple queries? You have to wade through all the garbage. At least an LLM will give you the general path and provide sources.
