I recently had a non-techie doing this kind of stuff as well. Sending me a bunch of JSON files generated by Claude and saying "here's the JSON files you need", not understanding that JSON can have different shapes. It's

Careful: Work Visa is not the same as Residence Permit. They check during the KYC process via mobile phone camera, and will reject people without a residence permit (Aufenthaltserlaubnis, Blue Card, etc), and they claim several things, from

I fired a report for doing that. It was quite easy to explain why to HR. They were just an interface between me and Claude. No productivity lost.

I do have a credit card for emergencies but I haven't used in years. It's in the drawer, I didn't even integrate it with Apple Pay. My Girocard has Maestro integration, so I can use it overseas, but no number. Apparently this

AFAIK, it's actually the "not-really-banks" that don't have Girocard: N26, Revolut, bunq, Vivid, Trade Republic, Wise, Tomorrow, Openbank. All the traditional large ones seem to have AFAIK. Off topic but I really hate N2

I had a situation where my mortgage took money from my account, but used the wrong company/reference name. I didn't know what it was so I clicked a few buttons in the app and the money was back instantly. That was on Commerzbank.

Paypal (as an example) only asks for the name and IBAN and they do identity verification themselves, by depositing (!) a small amount of money on your account. But yeah, it's a very high-trust society. Of course any charge can be rever

I've been in a situation where I had to work directly with a good CEO (plus board, C-Levels, and a lot of middle-management) and problematic middle-management was the actual problem. It was almost like parody: - CEO wanting people to l

I will always be grateful for his performance as Gabriel Knight, my favorite game of all time. Not only he was one of the pioneers in the medium, but the performance itself is still one of the greatest of all time.

I remember when Imgur tried to become a self-contained community. Reddit users would post an image in Imgur and the "community" would reply complaining about the lack of context, judging appearances or just being mean in general.

It's mutually beneficial to everyone involved, Apple, the blog, the user. No leaked email address, no need for anyone to store password, people using iCloud instead of Gmail. What they're asking, for it to cost zero, sounds perfec

Just ask AI to write Jira tickets and call it a day. The point isn’t to serve customers anymore, it’s to use AI for AI sake because investors want, because they have FOMO. I’m only half joking. I have seen PMs attempting that and getting fi

The important difference IMO is in the small vs big libraries culture. Lots of languages have a bad stdlib but don’t fall into the trap of having thousands of micro libraries. The reason people do it is because it brings clout and money. Ju

This is dangerous advice on so many levels. “Is math” and “Either works or not” is only true with formal specifications and formal verification, which dwarfs the cost of producing said software.
