EC2 small instance at the moment. I can afford to upgrade that for a while but I don't have the time to do it this second, I will be doing tomorrow though! It's all on a LAMP stack.

phlux - you're awesome. It's really unfortunate timing, I have guests arriving to spend the weekend here in about 10 minutes but can we talk further by e-mail? jon@flightlite.com. I'll try to get something together tomorrow if you think the

Phlux - the per airline branding is exactly something I had thought of - I'm looking for a contact in the industry who could help make it happen :) Yes it would be great to be the de facto widget for airlines to show their fleet status etc

I've now had four times the traffic of the past two months in one hour. The first time something like this has happened to one of my projects - it's quite exciting!

Flightlite is very much about tracking what's in the air right now (visiting relative, the plane you'll be departing on, previewing a route, just being a plane(plain!) nerd, etc) :) I've definitely thought about integrating pricing informat

I didn't claim they are drop in replacements, just like I wouldn't claim you can just jump from MySQL to PostgreSQL. What I said was you need to do your research and pick the right tool for the job. I haven't used PostgreSQL for quite a few

That's not really the point though - the different engines provided are for different tasks. MyISAM for example supports fulltext indexes by default which was/is probably one of the most useful features for web development which explains wh

A second vote for Microserfs - it's very much beach reading, but I really enjoyed it (try Joop! too for a similar light reading style)

I only got through the first paragraph or so when I had to stop because the font is almost unreadable in Chrome on Windows 7. The descenders on letters are being clipped and it's too decorative to read comfortably as a body font on screen.

Can't reply to your post below (don't know why) - I'm not sure how you got that link (I can't get it offered by the search, the time in it is wrong - hence the problem). My contact details are in my profil if you can offer more information

AA5066 is a codeshare operated by a different airline which is why it didn't come back in the search for AA5066 (it is instead CHQ5066). I'm looking into a way to support this though as it's not exactly helpful :)

Hehe, on odd occasions the departure time from my provider comes back as the unix epoch (Jan 1st 1970) so I suspect that's what you saw. Can you remember the flight number so I can investigate further? I've thought about the alerts idea (te

http://flightlite.com Flightlite is a visual flight tracker combining 3D and overhead views and flight information. It is my first launch since I started reading Hacker News and was developed as a side project for the past 6 months or so.
