I don't like this either; hopefully we can disable it at the very least. I do like that flight tracking view, though. That's what I'd like to see more of - making email/search more useful, not more integrated.

Here are a handful off the top of my head: - Are you profitable? If so, for how long? - How long until you need another round of funding? - Are you planning on hiring more staff? If so, for what positions? - How do you gauge promo

Thank you for making a point of only eating fake meat occasionally. Too many "fake" vs "real" arguments lean toward some assumption that you're going to be scarfing this down for three square meals a day.

Do you think it would change the dynamic of certain IRC channels if tipping became a regular occurrence?

Are you in a major city? Reddit.com usually has meetups going on, with atleast a few regulars. Meetup.com is also a great option, especially in larger cities.

I really hope they release more of these; not interested in this bundle, but I certainly would be in a different combination.

I'm paying around $100/mo for 50mbits, and it seems to fluctuate between 30 and 60 realistically. That's for just bare internet service and nothing else. I'd switch to Google in a heartbeat, provided they have atleast basic support.

It's really a judgement call, but trying to remove every API dependency before you launch is most likely over-optimization. I'd suggest focusing on launching and refactoring later on, for two reasons: 1. If the app doesn't generate revenue,

Funnily enough, 1% of Google's searches is still an astronomical amount of usage.

Comcast charges $7/mo for a shitty modem. A brand new top end Motorola modem costs <$90 from Amazon. Why shouldn't we buy our own modems?

Wow, I completely glossed over that. I also don't write Java, so that's an interesting bit of info. Thanks!

I don't use timeline either, and I have six ads, as follows: ------ - "Enter to win a Free Lasik Procedure in the Denver Area today!" (I'm not in Denver and my eyesight is fine) - "Alienware’s first 3D Capable gaming laptop – Get yours NOW"

Out of curiosity - is there something particularly wrong with that code, or is it just nauseating reading the same thing over and over?

Insightful post. I've noticed the same thing by going to Reddit meetups. With the exception of recurring events (like boardgame night) you really only see the "regulars" once a month, so if you miss one meetup, you really lose out on a chan

https://mrt.moduslink.com/app/AppleStatusSite/AppleStatusSea... It's an iFrame pointing to a third-party rebate company. To be pedantic, it isn't necessarily "their" server.

What sort of comments do you add? Mine are usually of two varieties - either explaining a pixel value (width + border + margin), or adding a short note about why I did something unconventional (two pixels removed so FireFox doesn't flow to

I've been using FastMail for years, and I've looked into Rackspace Email recently, and back when it was Webmail.us. FastMail's interface is definitely superior, and their beta interface[1] is on par with Gmail. If you're using a desktop cli

Maybe not necessarily easier, but it isn't part of their focus. Besides having collateral (the datacenters) what else do they gain? It's not like Amazon where they're providing infrastructure to other companies. I remember someone else on H

I wonder if anyone's tried tackling an "RSS feed store" the same way app stores work? Being able to easily add and remove $1/mo subscriptions would be quite nice, especially with a $10/yr option.

I'm in a similar situation and just learning Python. If you setup a VM with a Debian netinstall, it will let you setup Apache / Python / PgSQL right out of the box. From there, I would recommend installing mod_wsgi and following a tutorial

The sad thing is, it's completely trivial and non-disruptive to switch to from a cleartext database to a hashed+salted one.
