I'll most likely end up being the same way. I'm slow to switch editors, but every time I hear news about SublimeText I'll launch it and get closer to just making the switch - and by extension, paying. Compare that to the 7 day trial of Coda

For some napkin math, that's about 100kloc per year per dev, or 50 lines per hour. Few thoughts off the top of my head: - How many projects is this code spread over? - What about refactoring? - How much time are the developers spending on b

I would be interested in a review as well. Coming from an OO background, I've been looking for books/articles that focus more on "here's how you'd do that using functional programming" instead of just exercises going over syntax.

You can still use interpolation, but most of us use parameters now. See: PDO @ http://php.net/manual/en/book.pdo.php

Craigslist is ranked #9 in the US on Alexa. I think it's completely understandable that you're running PadLister, especially since it would take some sort of internet voodoo to make a dent in Craigslist's traffic.

PadLister is run by PadMapper. Check the copyright at the bottom of the page.

They already run PadLister[1]. I wonder whether their endgame is to usurp Craigslist, or to continue being an aggregator? Personally I see more value in them pulling in Craigslist ads than trying to create their own community, but at this p

This really sucks. Finding an apartment in Boston on Craigslist is nearly impossible without PadMapper.

I've been taking a simpler approach. I buy about 3 albums a week off Amazon or iTunes, which adds up to 150 albums or 1500 songs a year. By the time that 20 year old is 25, s/he'll easily have 7500 songs paid for over 5 years, instead of on

To watch GoT online, you need to have HBO bundled with your cable package, so for someone without cable, that's essentially $100/mo. I would absolutely pay $10-20/mo or $30-40 to watch GoT just on HBO online or streaming through Amazon. So

I run a small site[1] that links to most of the popular developer job boards, and I browse most of them intermittently. Even a site like StackOverflow Careers only gets a few posts per week for a location like Boston. Are you charging money

Very cool, added to my channel list in Textual. Just started the Crypto course and it's paced really well, I like it.

You should absolutely spend a day or two working with multi-dimensional arrays. It really is a core skill, like debacle said. A few simple things you can try: - Design a database for a forum. Use PHP to pull a list of Users. For each User,

I buy a decent amount of albums, and I do 90% Amazon MP3 and 10% iTunes - Amazon MP3 is consistently $1+ cheaper, which amounts to a free album every 7 or 8, in comparison. iTunes would need some serious deals to beat that.

I agree. I think a transparent box with just the name would be great, and then when you mouseover/click, it would open a tooltip similar to PadMapper. Right now the distance and thumbnail don't really add much to the initial tooltip. It wou

I'm using the 2011 one, matte screen, Apple-installed 128gb SSD, and 8gb of RAM. It's the best laptop I've ever owned. I only wish I went for the 256gb SSD, despite the price.

Isn't Heroku a mediocre option for a static site unless you're paying? If the site isn't accessed for a while they spin down your EC2 instance, and it takes a few seconds to get it back online.
