Yes, it provides an easy way of transferring ideas and scripts I'm using at home to work without having to pass code through an overly aggressive email filter. Besides, as others have said people can see what quality level of code I can pro

Like all powerful things, when used properly implicits add rather than detract from the code. In Scala's case, you can limit the scope of the implications which is just so nice. I'm not a fan-boy but it sure beats the heck out of Java.

Actually that very much scares me. What's to prevent any company from copyrighting a small passage of code and then rigorously suing everyone and their brother for it? At least with patents you can claim prior art.

Joel is awesome, althought I don't agree with him on everything. He's got it nailed. When you're working a dead-end job, being paid less than everyone at other companies, in an environment where even your chair is falling apart, doing the

I'd hate to be his HR person. The deluge of resumes is going to be overwhelming. Although, I don't agree with all that he says I applaud him for pointing out something companies often times miss: testers should test other people's code, n

From the website of Awwthor LLC: "In our model portfolio, our initial balance of $5,000 grew within three months to $150,000." -- So let me get that straight, a 3000% increase in only 3 months!?

Having personally worked with Guo while he was setting up his lab, I'm really pleased to see him linked on this website. The man is damned smart and it's very true what he said. For those wonder how it all works check out: http://www.opt

Unions are great when they are needed. The problem with unions is that once they are not needed anymore they don't go away.

Very interesting stuff. Our project has been required to work with the ESRI ArcObjects stuff for the past 4 years and I've been dying to get inside of their algorithms. Thanks for resparking my curiosity.
