Wait, did I just read that correctly? Microsoft is going to make their OS less responsive to the web by disabling JIT for browsers other than IE? IE is horrid, it just makes no sense why they would do this to the detriment of their users. M

I remember Barnes and Noble had a job offering that was looking for "rockstar developers to work in a start-up like environment." When the guy asked me if I were a rock-star, I said no. He ended the conversation right there.

Is this for real or is it the most cleverly disguised viral advertising campaign for Doritos? I don't see any mention of any other taco brand plus the use of a Doritos branded image...

I'm not against techniques, manufacturing methods or process patents. What I'm against is the wholesale patenting of DNA. Now, if someone comes up with a new technique which is more cost effective, faster, safer, etc. they will not be able

I think Rich knows that you can't sell a technology or language, you have to sell a product. That's why he did Datomic. That said, I write Scala at my current job and am super excited that Typesafe got this funding. Please, Typesafe, follow

Yes and no. I'm building a library that allows you to at least pull in the database structure and have the code auto-generated so that your code agrees with the schema. You can see it here: http://wheaties.github.com/Squealer/ After that,

The 3D sliders were terribly slow on my computer (Chrome, latest.) Is it just a setting that can be tweeked or is the delay due to the library? Otherwise, very cool fade and choices like that.

I think the best lesson here is that if you don't have some amount of traction or cash pile to back yourself up, don't share unpatentable ideas with someone who's legal army outnumbers you.
