I have a VPS in Digitalocean that's running syncthing ever since Untrusted Enrypted Storage[1] has been introduced last year. It's great, it's even better than cloud storage, since the VPS never has access to the encryption k

UltimateGuitar is so pushy with their ads and subscriptions, it's a crime. Neat shortcut though. Thanks for the effort.

In the press release Apple talks about AAC-ELD codec being included on these earbuds, promising high-def low-latency audio. I wonder if that's true. My biggest gripe with the industry ever since the death of 3.5mm jack has been voice&#

So I was looking for an alternative and bought Lenovo Yoga Slim 7. Ryzen 5800H with 90Hz 1440p screen. It runs loud af, fan is constantly pulsing, but it's an alright machine for ~1200eu. It's now going on ebay to fund the mbp pur

I've tried to switch to Linux multiple times. Something is always broken. Primary example is hidpi support. My laptop has a 1440p screen and I use a 1080p external one. And then sometimes I disconnect it and go into a meeting room or s

When are, as people, are going to ditch PDF? It's an awful format. My friend wrote his PHD in Latex, but it all ends up being PDFed anyway for what, eye candy? It's time to move on. #ditchpdf

I fly FPV drones too and the batteries suck and this thing seemed to have 40+ minutes of flight time. Even top of the DJI drones (which are not exactly freestyle/racy) would top out at around 30 minutes. Not implying aliens, but I wish

Yeah, I guess. I just don't understand how my 2015 retina mbp can support up to 4 displays (including the internal one), but this state-of-the-art-3x-gpu-performance chip can't do more than one. This might be tied to some I/O

I don't see people mentioning it here, but the Pro machine only supports one external display. People have called the sales rep to confirm and this is indeed the case. This is kind of bad news for the Pro machine.

So I get the whole performance-per-watt spiel, but if they're targeting the same 10W as with Ice Lake Y-series[1], it's gonna be hot during continuous workloads like screen sharing, since they've seemingly decided to get rid

If you look at the power supplies it's 30 vs 60 Watts, definitely interested to see what kind of TDP Apple targets with these machines.

Hardware video accelleration on Linux with Wayland! I've tested it on Youtube, it works alright, definitely less CPU usage, however on twitch.tv I still get some graphical glitches.

They better fix the cooling system though, last year Air had a passive system without a heatpipe between the CPU and system fan and people complained. TDP seems to be a bit higher here, so let's see if they've managed to do someth

I have one at work and it's not, I ended up using my personal MBP13 instead. Fan seems to struggle to dissipate even 25 watts of heat. Sometimes it would be sitting at 50+ degrees C, just idling. I asked our IT guys if I can repaste it
