I have had similar experience. For me the most annoying was the work they put in making it difficult (nearly impossible) to use with conda environments.

Sadly there is very little activity aiming at bare metal and VMs nowadays. If you look at features presented during couple of past months, you will find mainly kubernetes. Switching from charms to operators. But kudos to openstack charmers

I totally agree with you. I would like to know if they actually have any reasons why they don't give people this option, because even though people could tend to opt-out in masses - there still is possibility to motivate them somehow.
