This is the TL;DR for me. Perhaps a lot of this will evolve and we’ll end up with some fantastic technologies that are truly revolutionary. But, a lot of us are pretty jaded by “blockchain is a game changer” with no tangible evidence beyond

Really hard to generalize. I think people get such varied offers, and depending on what year they’re on & how their vesting schedule works it could be higher or lower. Companies also change vesting schedules and such, and I assume level

If you just autosell it, why would you prefer straight salary? Is it concerns over stock fluctuations? I too always sell immediately as I prefer to be diversified (but I also don’t work at an extreme high growth company)

I’m curious about this too. 1Password used to sync to a file that could be backed up to iCloud/Dropbox/drive and I wished they’d kept it that way, but it at least partially suggests they may have stuck with full client-side encryp

LastPass has had a history of security incidents (no company can completely avoid incidents, but if security is literally a primary part of your value, you shouldn’t be having so many). Even worse, they have a history of doing hand-wavy cor

I agree. Security/privacy aren’t going to become less of a problem, and knowing what is actually running on our systems is a remarkably unsolved problem.

Really not a value-add contribution. A lot of software that has existed forever is written in C by unpaid volunteers; are you planning to rewrite it in rust? Further, snark could be made about how this will have near zero security impact ye

Wow, fascinating. I’m not entirely surprised that the taxes cover the healthcare costs (probably similar in NZ where taxes on smoking are very high), but I was startled by the idea of early mortality being a saving. I would point out that h

One consideration here that many folks (US in particular) may not consider is that smokers put a very substantial burden on the NZ healthcare system which is taxpayer funded. Of course, there are plenty of counter examples to this such as o
