I could relate to a lot of his painstaking efforts after building the maps for Stormpulse "by hand" albeit digitally. Hundreds of little decisions all along the way.

Definitely agree. This is why we (Stormpulse) not only avoided Google Maps but spent 1,000's of hours designing the UI. I would avoid mapstraction for the same reason: we see mapping as a core competency of our business. YMMV of course.

I got married at 21, had my first child (of 4) at 21, and had the idea for Stormpulse at 23. I've now worked on it for 7 years and turned 30 last month. I feel like I've accomplished a lot in terms of having a very full home life and a ve

Or you could just test 100 people and discover that X think of Goodyear or the Hindenberg and you're being a bit absurdist. :)

So what do all these startups do that can not raise a series A? A subset sell as a team buy, a few go out of business, but an increasing number are going out for a bridge round. Basically, instead of raising $5 million, I am seeing post-

No, it takes all the work before you ever talk to an investor plus a certain amount of time which for him could have between six weeks given the traction of DDG.

The article talks about $9.1 bn invested in SV in 2010 vs $1.2 bn in the South and then goes on to say that approximately 1 out of 10 raises are in the South. Unfortunately this overlooks the power of having 4x as much money concentrated in

I agree they messed up here, but Bloomberg in general is amazing. The terminal is invincible, the news network is the best on television (have you seen their interview with pg or their feature on Elon Musk?), their revenues are insanely gr

Thanks Mike ... really liked doing that HnT and was glad we could veer away from tech topics and talk about the biz. Hope we can cross paths again soon.

Wow, thanks. I'm definitely getting more comfortable with pitching, but don't consider myself a master by any stretch. I think the next frontiers are frame control and getting a better grasp on market sizing and pricing. But yes, hopefully
