Or maybe it's a really hard problem that we don't fully understand. The problem seems simple in one sense: uncontrolled growth, no?

I was also going to add that I would say for B2C relations this doesn't seem to matter a lot. In fact, I prefer it, as it makes us seem more single point-of-contact and personal (for some reason I have no confidence whenever I email a supp

September was a month I won't forget for a while! The SWF is something we wrote ourselves, but all of the sources/images/layers are public info. For example, you can download the base imagery from NASA here: http://earthobservatory.nasa.g

Stormpulse was politely turned down by YC in 2007. I'm sure getting accepted would have changed things in a good way, but I can't complain about the way things are going; a YC-no-thanks is not a fatal judgment.

What do you consider an invention? Is creating a new breed of cat an invention? What about a car that runs on water? What about a duck-horse? I think we want to reserve 'invention' for only the out-of-nowhere, bizarre creations.

Given how news print publications are moving these days, I'd say it's probably just out with the old.

If nothing else this does provide a nice alternative for form design. The sign-up form might not be the best use-case, however.

We've put about 5 man-years into the project, spread out over 4 years time. That time includes 3 years of full-time effort (myself for 1 year, co-founder for 2). To be completely thorough, we ended up spending a lot of our personal savings

Internet killed the print newspaper star? Not really. It's a little more complex, as I've learned. * Early 2000's: Newspaper uses soon to be outdated technologies and eyeballs strategy. * Mid 2000's: Housing boom allows newspaper to rake

I work at a newspaper. It was just announced that our presses are shutting down and our daily print edition will be printed on the presses of our mortal enemy that is no longer our mortal enemy (expect that to be a trend). Newspapers are f

To suggest that everyone can be equally talented in a particular element is to demean the trade and the people in it. Maybe. But I would argue that most people's talent is the result of persistent hard work in that discipline. And that

do they not understand that the internet has the eyeballs of more people in the world than any other medium ever? Fun fact: There are not enough eyeballs in the world to support the CPM goals of the newspaper industry.

Wow. The lowest burn rate means spending more in two months than we've spent on Stormpulse in 2 years. Either I'm way out of my league and everyone else has amazingly-capitally-expensive ideas, or we're the cockroach on the cockroach's bac

Sometimes it's more about execution than product inventory. If you go to http://pixlr.com/app , you immediately get a Photoshop interface. If you go to http://www.picnik.com/app , you get to wait for a minute while the app 'fluffs clouds'
