It's important for bootstrappers to understand the mass traffic that's needed for advertising to fuel growth. $20 eCPM means to have just a $200k/yr. business you need 10 million impressions per year. $0.10 eCPM means you need 2 billion.

Let's boil it down to eCPM. What is your eCPM going to be? Multiple that by impressions and tell me how you're going to support N employees on that revenue.

This is why I think the golden goose of web optimization tools is going to be the one that automagically segments a user base into population/profiles based on their repeated behaviours and their origin IP (consumer/biz) (provide a klout.co

Stormpulse has recently shifted from B2C to B2B. Pricing is so completely different there's no A/B test you could use to determine that. Say you were selling tickets to hear Lang Lang play the piano. You could try selling those on the cor

I think his point is that at some point it isn't right to call it spam. Double opt-in mailing lists for a product or service that you enjoy isn't spam.

Hoping to make it to StartupRiot as well (assuming I am accepted to present). Andrew Warner and others (like me) are hoping to have an HN meetup of sorts.
