Great job! How do you do search result ranking? Any signals that you use to decide “this is a high quality video from reputable channel and it’s relevant”? I would imagine # of followers / likes / comments / like-comment rati

For listennotes.com, we did a postgres 9.6 => 11 upgrade (in 2019), and 11 => 13 upgrade (in 2021). ~0 downtime for read ops, and ~45 seconds downtime for write ops. Our database is less than 1TB. One master (for writes + some reads)

Two pricing tactics that I wish more SaaS businesses could adopt - 1. Daily subscription and auto-cancel. For example, you can subscribe for 3 days, then it'll automatically cancel your subscription after 3 days. In Gitlab's case,

It's easier to create many disposable email addresses than "real" email. To get a new "real" email address, you need to fill a lengthy form (e.g., try it on Gmail.com now) and it's not easy to automate the proc

I’m actually surprised how cheap the server cost is , given the scale of linchess… Great job! Recent years, I have a feeling that HN commenters would assume server cost should always approach $0, not matter how big, or how different a real
