That's cool. When I envision banks, I see stuffy suits and offices, getting stuck waiting months to work on something because of beaurocracy, etc. Maybe I'm listening too much to stereotypes. Can you give any examples of tech stac

How about B2 combined with Cloudflare? Egress from B2 to Cloudflare is free and egress from Cloudflare to the internet is free for their free plan, and perhaps competitive on their not free plan?

Yeah... I'm not really sure where this idea of not being able to use the tools available out of the box to deploy apps and do networking comes from. I deploy YAML. If I feel like my YAML is too big, I DRY it using kustomize. I can use

That sounds neat. I feel like I'd take that offer. 4x8hr for 80% of my current salary. I guess we'd just have to make sure the rest of the company can be productive during the 5th work day if their teams aren't doing it. Can&

Somehow, it's gotten me promotions and raises. I feel like I'm lucky and should stick around.

Apparently they used to be quite different problems, but with today's focus on "performance per watt-hr" as the most important metric, they've merged together. GCP's new AMD CPUs are popular because they're x86

If I recall correctly, GAE is an example of something they made specifically to be a cloud product. Products like Compute Engine, GCS, Bigtable, and Pub/Sub are things developed internally and then sold publicly once they realized othe

That's not a bad idea. You could set it up to delete all Lambdas (assuming you've got a CI/CD system capable of redeploying them quickly later) if the billing goes over. Of course, this may hurt you more because of the outage

This is a reasonable way of achieving the balance needed. My company would freak out if we had even a short outage that affected all our customers because we set a billing quota too low. And I'd feel a lot more comfortable experimentin

Appreciate the offer, but I wouldn't know what to ask yet. I'm still pretty junior in the grand scheme of things. I plan to just keep an eye on how it develops.

Seems more like Cloud Run to me. A modest amount of vendor lock-in if you're only interested in running compute workloads, and the usual ton of vendor lock-in that is inherent to any effective cloud usage if you want to go all in with

By AWS Firecracker microVMs, do you mean AWS Lambda? Cloud Run is a managed service. It wouldn't be a good comparison to compare it to the Firecracker open source project. It would make more sense to compare Cloud Run to AWS Lambda.
