Disappointed it didn't launch with Hooks. [0] I know this is a Beta launch, but I thought they would learn from Claude and copy. Hooks enable plugins, like https://wakatime.com/claude-code [0] https://docs.a

Estimates will always be off compared to a plugin like wakatime tracking the real amount of AI generated code vs human written code.

I thought this was about consolidation of email providers so your email never leaves a single datacenter: "10 years ago we couldn't send an email 500 miles, but these days we can't send it 500 miles because it just routes int

Patents are gatekeeping ideas. Two people come up with the same idea independently but one gets a patent and keeps the other from using their own idea. Copyright is protecting from copy pasting the implementation of the idea.

You're confusing Copyright (implementation) with Patent (idea). We don't like gatekeeping ideas because many people have the same ideas.

My app doesn't do that. The reason I push the app is because we don't ask for your email address, so the only way I have to notify you of new messages or stuff is via an app. Apps are sticky, websites aren't.

Go could learn from this and implement Swift's optional feature: https://wakatime.com/blog/48-go-desperately-needs-nil-safe-t...

I rolled my own auth [0] and it works just fine. Why do I need another service for Auth, it's simple enough already. I guess B2B products need more auth features so it's worth using a library? [0] https://github.com

Wow, salaries have gone DOWN since I last worked as IC! Context: Was a senior SWE in SF for Airbnb until 2020. Now I'm seeing Principle engineer positions with lower base salary than I had 5 years ago.

You forgot "Building time tracking apps" I'm seeing even more of this effect lately among young vibe coders. Not saying it's a bad thing, I'm saying: It's reached the point where it's easier to build your

Neither? I'm surprised nobody has said it yet. I turned off AI autocomplete, and sometimes use the chat to debug or generate simple code but only when I prompt it to. Continuous autocomplete is just annoying and slows me down.

I bet OpenAI feels kinda silly now that they just paid $3B for Windsurf when they could have backed an OSS one for much less.

Just eww... you were an expert at Rails 10+ years, failed to become an equivalent expert at Next.js so you went back to what you're used to. You just didn't dive in deep enough. I was the same expert level with Python, now I'

I like a similar trick, sending very large files hosted on external servers to malicious visitors using proxies. Usually those proxies charge by bandwidth, so it increases their costs.

When connecting GitHub, it asks you to select the repos you want wonderful.dev to see. You can select private repos there too.

Same, always have copilot autocomplete turned off. I do use the chat, but rarely. I was using it as docs but had to stop because it gives straight up wrong answers while sounding so confident. It's just faster to go directly to the doc
