EA for the most part does not respect the player experience. How is it 2013 and NFL 2K5 is still the best NFL sim?

I think the main issue I have is that if there is a situation where you actually notice the paints happening on a progressive image for it to even matter, you might want to rethink the level of quality of the photo being delivered to that d

Is it really better than a loading indicator? Just use the title link as a reference. First you see chicken wings, then all of a sudden 6 piglets. The transition paint is really meaningless.

I would not call this a "best practice", but simply an alternative. Progressively loading photos in that manner is not a good user experience either. The first paint is often quite jarring, especially, as pointed out in the article, over 9

Seems like an issue they've struggled to solve unsuccessfully, and it's a pretty big problem for a core feature of their product unless they change the UI altogether for how they present the feed. Is there an example of an infinite scroll

I see. Point still stands. Their timeline and newsfeed scrolling are still going to be problems regardless.

While that is a problem, it wouldn't solve the uncanny valley problem with scrolling either way. Standards for correct UI feel on iOS are extremely high, and you are looking at spending more development hours trying to create a write once r

"a year or two" - that's quite a long time to be testing something. Also I'm not sure how much of a time to market advantage they gained from using UIWebView, if any. There's simply no evidence to support it. Everything points to interna

UITableView was made for mobile devices not for infinite scrolling per se, but simply for large lists (such as address books) due to the memory limitations of iOS devices. Those memory limitations are simply nonexistent for the web for almo

A jack of all trades "might" work, but honestly it depends on the person. Someone who understands the full stack is usually not be someone qualified to be building scalable fault-tolerant pieces of server side infrastructure for a company.

> they would not be able to use it at work - ever They probably shouldn't be using node.js at work either. Putting a client-side javascript engineer (even a decent one) on a node.js project can be really dangerous.

It's true. Honestly, Objective-C in its current state is far easier to pick up than JavaScript, which only gained popularity due to the market effects of browsers.

I disagree about the prediction for simplified Craigslist-style UIs. I don't think it will ever happen on Mobile. Animations play a very important role in communicating to the user how to interact with the interface. Animations also give

Just watched the video on RubyMotion. Is this really saving much time over Objective-C? I'm saving a few lines of code, but now I have to keep compiling from Ruby to Obj-C, and get none of the benefits of XCode.

The mouse movement is laggy. Why not use hardware mouse speeds? For an interaction with that much frequency, it makes the game unplayable.
