While I think your point is totally on the mark I am going to chime in like a pedantic pain in the arse and mention that Civ has been addictive as fuck since the early 90s when I ruined at least a month of my life playing just one more turn

Can we do Manhattan next? Haha, just kidding. The dysfunction of our city politics makes obvious life-improving policies completely untenable. Hell, we can't even change the way we collect our garbage or maintain our (totally necessary

Was it pointless? Who doesn't like to hear something pleasant said about, oh, I don't know 25 years of knowing a fun word and getting to use it in context. If praise for that bugs you then you need to find some joy in your life, b

I could have gone with Madam Tim but I worried it would be too formal. Listen, I have been on this site from the beginning and I appreciate the generally no bullshit tone. I left reddit back when it became clear that HN was the clear succes

AirBNB restrictions should be based on housing vacancy rates. In areas where either through poor zoning or historical preservation there is a restricted supply of housing AirBNB should be strictly limited. However, if vacancy rates are high

Hahaha wow, that's awesome. Thanks for the pointer, I'll have to read more deeply before forming an opinion but I love the sentiment.

It's simple: workers have less bargaining power than they used to have so they can't demand a share of the profits the way that those at the top can. I'm not a fan of unions because they have the same power-structure problems

Sure! Tokyo's actually pretty cheap (but the expense of a city has a lot more to do with its regulations regarding zoning and density). Cities just tend to have more expensive housing because they tend to have more bureaucratic barrier
