Orbiter 2016 is a brilliant game. I am currently trying to do a small space simulator in Clojure ( https://github.com/wedesoft/sfsim25 ) and I probably should take a look at the Orbiter source code.

I think you meant to say "pointing the nose to the space station in 50 km and applying thrust towards it turns out to be a sure way to NOT get to that station" Edited: made mistake as well ;)

You can just use "(clojure.main/repl)" to start a repl with environment in your code.

We are using Mumble ( https://www.mumble.info/ ) to be able to hear your colleagues the whole day. When I need to focus more, I go to a virtual office in Mumble.

Microsoft tried to spread FUD about Linux patents and by trying to scare the industry into buying patent licenses from Novell (which had acquired SuSE).

In math you can prove statements given a set of axioms. But in physics you can just validate things with experiments.

Clojure code is more dense, but once you stop trying to read as many LOC per minute as you would in other languages you are fine. Also the increased use of pure functions and immutable datastructures makes it easier to reason about code.

I used the PulseAudio simple API only to find out that it didn't work. Only when I changed to the normal API it started working.

Did you use transactions? I noticed a significant performance increase after wrapping blocks of queries with BEGIN TRANSACTION and COMMIT TRANSACTION.

Worked at an optics company and they were spoiling lenses until someone discovered that Excel was rounding values to two digits after the comma (financial rounding).

I am not sure which link you mean. Glen's Mealmaster archive is here: http://thehoseys.org/buster/recipes.html

Looks like the recipe ingredients are not structured any further. That means that it is going to be difficult to extract amount and unit from the text.

Back then I tried to implement that, but if I tell it, that I have no water, it ruled out many recipes. If I told it, I had water, it suggested coffee or tea.

An ingredient continuation line has to start with a "-". Otherwise the software can't recognise it. There is no intelligence in the parser.

Ok, I wish you success with your endeavour. Sounds like a really futuristic project :) Thanks for the project list. I was only aware of Moley robotics.

Another thing I forgot to mention in the article is that I set up a Debian Sid Docker container in order to build a package to submit to the Debian developers. Hopefully I will find a sponsor soon so that it will eventually be available as

The thing is, I don't have the copyrights. I just downloaded the recipes from Glen's MealMaster archive and imported it. But MealMaster is human readable text if you just want to look at the data.

Not sure about Electron. You would probably still need the parser to be Flex/C for performance. Even using Flex and C it takes about half an hour to import 250000 recipes. Sorry that I haven't done a build for MacOS. But I don

It is difficult to support more recipe formats because they are more generic than MealMaster. But I can take a look.

That's an interesting article. Thanks for sharing. Maybe something more structured than MealMaster is required when programming a kitchen robot in the future ;)

Thanks for your comment. Of course one can use a search engine for finding recipes. But using a recipe database one can perform ingredient searches and category searches more easily.
