Screen readers do not skip ads! If they're there, they still get in the way. There are commands you can use to make things more efficient to navigate, but if the ads take up most of the page, it's just going to be an exercise in r

If I wanted to, I could use reader mode for every page. I could try and find and/or generate an RSS feed for every page, but I would do most of the generating. It's just easier and faster to use an ad blocker on top of my browser,

Thankfully, I don't live in Germany. However, I wouldn't be surprised if platforms like Google/youtube take more agressive moves to ban ad blockers after this. Kind of like the implementation of age verification crap that You

They're assistive technology for me too, as a blind person. They make the modern web easier to navigate! I also use them for privacy reasons, of course!!

I like them a whole lot! Maybe it's because I'm a screen reader user, but maybe it's because I really like the internet circa 2001. Anyone ever seen the Simpson transcripts page? It's a whole bunch of text!! Probably pre

We all did when we signed up, or if I suppose. Just not the recent ridiculous data training with no optout changes.

I love how you used the phrase "Wordpress is dead," and not the really trendy term everyone has been throwing around since January of last year.

I keep them straight usually. However, I don't have to. I just use Classic press.

Well... I'm an untested person! I never bought into the hype, because I don't ever do so. In fact, I told friends of mine in 2021 not to do so either. They said they had the test kit on their counter, and were debating on spitting

It's actually more-or-less the big Youtube streamers too. Because no one can keep up with the chat scroll, so ya know, they don't read everything.

Wow, uBlock origin was making a team working on adblock circumvention tech sweat? I'm sure it makes Google do way more!!

I honestly don't understand it either! I'm a screen reader user, and if I had to use the web without adblock, it would take me a lot longer!!! However, I have friends who also use screen readers who do!!

Right now, I use adGuard. Any adblocker such as uBlock origin should do this. However they tend to ban uBlock origin, because it's widely known. Or at least when they go after adblock, they go after that one first.

I use linklocker, and pay $12 yearly for it. I would be willing to pay monthly for it, if necessary.
