I do not think this is fair. Cost of fossil fuels is largely undervalued: most of the cost (wars and pollution) is not taken into account.

I am a go player. The whole purpose of training is to improve the thinking rate. We train using slow games to build higher level insights and we train using fast games to transform these insights into automatisms (passive thinking).

There are many videos of Jean-Marc Jancovici on this subject. Some of them are in English. It gives documented pragmatic analysis. One conclusion is clear: Current nuclear plants shall be preserved to smooth the energetic transition (fossi

I disagree with you. Introducing a database too early is overengineering. My first principle is KISS. I have encountered code that was similar to the example: it was the handling of messages received from automatas in a nuclear plant. I hav

I have more difficulties to read long flags. The people who want to improve by reading my scripts will have to search for the short flags because nobody use long flags from command line. IMHO the benefits of long flags vs short ones are not

I fully agree with your second point. But, having worked in Ada during 6 years, the productivity is around the same as C++, perhaps slightly better than C++. The productivity is only reduced when writing very short programs.

There is also some ecology: the hardware (CPU, GPU) has evolved in conjunction with software. Maybe a different hardware is needed to support the new software paradigm.

.The minitel was free (we had to choose between having a minitel or having a paper annuary). The communication on 3615 was expensive (9.15€ per hour). On 3614 or 3621, it was around 3.05€ per hour (sometimes half).

We have passed the peak of oil production. Nuclear is the only solution to mitigate the crisis we are going to face. I think we will need to get rid of nuclear at long term (like 50 years). But for the next 20 years (probably 40), we need n

In 1992, with a minitel 1B (80 columns), I have used the 3621 to connect to a service (129040134) that connected me to a vax station at school. From there I was connected to sun station where I edited my thesis using latex and vi. My teache
