The difference is that most other jobs don't pretend to love you. They're fairly upfront about that fact.

Wow. 11 years before you gave up on them changing. That's both impressive and depressing. I lasted about 2 and half years last place I worked.

Any time I'm critical of Windows treatment of CLIs, I'm either met with "Why would I need a CLI, it's not the 80s" or "PowerShell is vastly superior to bash". The issue keeping the MS world from adopting

This is an extremely minor quibble, but the dependency on Python makes me less inclined to use it. I'm stuck on Windows for a lot of the work I do so configuring Python is never fun and there is no one line installation method from wh

Why do I get the feeling Yelp has a lot more low skill employees than nxVenture Capital? The exact opposite point can be made with Walmart. edit: also, did anyone else find his claim that he pays his Administrative Assistant 300k to be a b

I think one of the biggest issues with, say Prague as you suggested, is the language barrier. Sure 50+% of people speak English, but that's still a huge transition for someone who has only ever lived in an English speaking country.

I've heard this said in serious context before, so I don't think it's a joke. Only really get brought up when someone says "female" though.

I'm glad I'm not alone in thinking this. Every little corner of the application seems to have a new UX failure or short coming that blows my mind.

Yup. Tried for a few seconds to add a custom blocking rule and then immediately left the page. I empathize with content creators, but this reeks of desperation.

Wow. I too feared the sharp edges created when my mom cut the tags out of my shirt, wasn't considered gifted AND had ADHD. There is no way that's a coincidence. Someone needs to study the link between ungifted children with ADH

It isn't. But ignoring the NN aspect of this discussion, the sentiment I got from the tweet was that the "anti-colonial" mindset was to drive out foreign influence, both positive and negative. The idea that the tweet was pr

The Galaxy Nexus was a complete disaster. Especially the Verizon model. I've had the Nexus 5 and now the Nexus 6P and it's night and day. Phenomenal experience with both phones.

The first manager I had did this explicitly. If he caught sales or marketing talking to the devs, he would ask them what the problem was. It worked well.

The problem is that risk has become an absurdly exponential factor of increasing wealth where hard work is at best only additive. Risk should not take the value that you provide and raise it to the power of 10 just because you might have f

I will be sending this to everyone I've had to help "remove viruses" from their computer in the last two years. This tool is a godsend.

This is hugely important for "normal" people. Most people have care a lot more about the value of their house not going down than not going up. Breaking even on a house is find because it provides roof over your head.
