I interned at Meraki summer of 2017. I have never heard of a company poaching employees as viscously as Samsara is from Meraki. Based on that I would say that Meraki is on the loosing side of "cool". I also wonder if Cisco would h

I don't understand why the BDS movement against Israel gets so much attention when stuff like this, or worse, regularly occurs in China. I have been making an effort to reduce what I buy from China recently, which is difficult in elect

I fully share this cynicism about recycling things that are not aluminum or glass. It also seems that by making people feel better about generating nominally recyclable waste they are encouraged to consume more. I am at least familiar with

My first though is who would populate these cities. Secular society does not seem capable of reproducing at above replacement rate and global population is expected to peak and start declining this century. Would people start having more ch

Copper Vapor / Copper Halide lasers have been around for a long time. I was interested in making one when I was in high school and went to the library at a local college and photocopied a whole bunch of old books/articles on the t

Is there any reason to avoid the USDA intake of 1200mg instead of the WHO 500mg? Is it a health issue? A taste issue?

The article talks about how it can be used to send messages but my first thought is that it could allow tracking of receivers. A scary thought if it does achieve widespread adoption.

I once found a development motherboard for the RAW processor at a MIT loading dock ( https://flic.kr/p/Fw8cKb ). I always wondered what happened to the project. Thanks for the full history!

KiCad 5 is an exciting release. Most notably over kicad 4 it allows arbitrary placement of vias not attached to a PCB trace. It sounds like a small change, but it was really one of the last big features that other EDA programs like Eagle or

I rarely, if ever, go to McDonald's at home. However, I realized that the kiosks in foreign countries allow you to order in english. They are quite convenient if you want food quickly but don't want to deal with a language barrier

The amount of brigading by IOTA community also shows how toxic it is. Just look at the comments on the ieee article. Or the some of the tweets. They were also spamming the /r/MIT subreddit about the DCI. Just watching this all unf

I have considered this in the past. The issue is that the kraken order books are rather shallow. Someone could intentionally cause a flash spike and force liquidation of any shorts rather easily, so its far from risk free.

I think thinkpads of that generation had RF shielding issues. I had a W520 that would crash whenever it was moved across a table or removed from a backpack. Turns out the shielding on the RAM door was faulty and the static charge generated
