I do write some code using FFI, but I have a cffi layer in there for PyPy. I do not interact with the CPython API. Currently I don't have an interest in taking time to try and make PyPy less slow for my use case, for many reasons that

Perhaps that not everyone is writing long-running services using Python? PyPy 5.3.0 is twice as slow as Python 3.5.0 for some work I regularly deal with (1.1s for PyPy, 0.6s for CPython). Another project it is ~40% slower (7.7s vs 5.6s). Ad

We've gotten flack from package developers submitting new packages to Package Control [0] because all additions to the default channel are hand reviewed. Part of this process is to prevent accidentally close package names, to try and e

All of the testing I've done with real-world code has shown an improvement of 10-20% moving from 2.7 to 3.4. I believe 3.5 made some slight further improvements.

Hopefully it will convince developers to not trust the client and actually confirm the user uploaded a .jpg, .png or .gif. But I guess that isn’t nearly as useful for us when we want a reason why we need to rewrite everything. :)

Pypy3 is a separate project. From previous comments by the PyPy team, their customers are almost all targeting Python 2, hence Python 3 doesn’t get nearly as much attention. Pypy3’s last release was 2.4.0 in 2014. It targets Python 3.2, whi

Having worked with SChannel to build a Python wrapper, there are a number of little bugs that require falling back to TLS 1.1 or retrying the connection. For instance, if a trust root uses an MD5 signature, TLS 1.2 can't be used. Also,

Package Control protects package information in transit using TLS, verifies TLS hostnames, and requires that package metadata source URLs are HTTPS. The source URLs for package information are all tracked in an open source repo on GitHub. F

I think a general comment that goes hand in hand with this list is: don't expect someone who has released open source code to be supporting you. If you are using extensive open source code in your (money-making) project, acknowledge th

That seems to be in line with what the author wants. Plenty of people prefer open source to mean "you can copy my code," and not "let's build something together". You using, or not using, the author's code will
