Not to mention, Nim still doesn't have a Wikipedia article because it is "not significant". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nim_(disambiguation)

The package manager in Julia is great, but the process of making a package needs much better documentation. It looks like Bindeps is the intended way of building packages that have external dependencies, but last time I checked the "do

I agree with you. One needs a group of like-minded individuals who understand and agree on the core design goals, but who have individual say in what they implement. Nim isn't being designed with an inferior model, it is being design

Nim has the feel of a compiled Python (with many additional features that Python is lacking). It is garbage collected, is designed to look as pseudocode'ish as possible. Rust is designed for systems projects where GC is not a good idea

One of the things that kills some of these "completely unknown" languages is that it isn't obvious they are still being developed. The last known release is years ago, or they still only support one platform, etc.

The main reasons I think, are that Nim is not "production ready" and that other developers think of Nim as Andreas Rumpf's baby. In my opinion, this happens when a single author is responsible for most of the implementation o

The hard questions in that list seem much easier than the Google foobar challenge questions. Though of course you have days to solve those, rather than having to solve them during a (presumably short) interview.

I absolutely agree with that. But there can be exceptions. For example the ternary Goldbach conjecture boiled down in the end (after a lot of analytic "pencil sharpening" as the author called it) to an exhaustive computer search u

The issue isn't that there couldn't be life as we know it. It is that life wouldn't have had time to evolve, e.g. the universe would disappear in far too short a time or that the expansion would be so rapid that not even star

Singular is only a component of the project. Maxima and Axiom contain almost none of the mathematical knowledge contained in the Singular project. No one wants to write hundreds of thousands of lines of code in some other system.

This very much depends on what you want to do with it and what your background is. Here are some things that might bother you. * Julia's approach to OOP is via multimethods, not the usual class/inheritance model. This might be ann

You could at least entertain us with a real mathematical problem, even if not the one you were given, e.g. in how many ways can 54673350319220399841294938973353 be expressed as three times a square plus twice a (generalised) octagonal numbe

Actually, looking more carefully at the Fish webpage I think they cite 7 as an example because 7 does not divide 2^32+/-1 (or indeed 2^64+/-1). If it did, the quotient would be a "magic number". However, 7 does divide 2^

The "doom/dread" spoken of is not the doom/dread you are associating it with. Anxiety disorder (regular panic attacks) absolutely comes with a sudden feeling of impending doom/dread. That is its most characteristic
