My simple method for avoiding paywalls: I go read about the subject somewhere else. I’m inundated with news. If there were no news, I’d probably be even happier.

Didn’t a bunch of Facebook employees stage a walk out last month? What are some examples of these companies acting incomplete unison at all times?

Most of the problems you listed are because you want to use a laptop to work for some reason. Ewww. Why anyone would want to optimize for working in trains, planes, automobiles, hotel rooms and meetings - I'll never understand. I'

Oh okay, well that explains everything. So which other group on the same order of magnitude of Microsoft's 150,000 employees do you know of that exhibits the same kind of decisiveness that would normally be attributed to a single entit

It turns out that there are multiple groups of people at Microsoft and these factions aren’t all in agreement all the time. I’m sure that there are plenty of those at Microsoft that disagree with telemetry and updates that you can’t opt out

So, you feel that every single niche forum must be discussing this or they're not being human? What if this were a body building forum or a site where chefs and their kitchen cooks talk shop? Would you feel the same way about the users

I'm not sure, that's why I'm asking for clarification. I'd like to know where the OP got their "frequently larger" stat from because I wasn't able to find one that specifically used the term "web apps

“Tech cares too”? What does that even mean? That’s the sort of sweeping generalization about a group of people that racists make.

That’s it? Great! Sounds like non-iOS software developers that are stuck on macOS can just hop right off without any problem whatsoever...

Been running Manjaro Linux for 2 years now on 2 desktop workstations and 1 laptop. No fiddling needed. Everything just works. (I had to install one utility called libinput-gestures to use multi-touch gestures on the laptop.) Matter of fact,

Gee, it sounds like using the proper channels works way better than trying to push trashy ads in an NPM postinstall script. Hopefully this story will help tone deaf people to make the right decision next time.

I haven’t seen an actual complaint about what’s wrong with XFCE. Simple minimalism is certainly preferable to whatever macOS can be described as by many, sure. I don’t see a problem with that.

I’ll give them $ for push notifications alone! Not 30% but it’s worth something if their servers suddenly now must process notifications from hundreds or thousands of new Web apps every year.

Finally! Now if someone will build a browser that will add the missing push notifications feature to PWAs, web apps on iOS might have some semblance of parity with Android.
