As per usual though, Microsoft mostly will let you do what you want the way you want to do it by giving you an option, while Apple is busy breaking your things and trying to convince you that theirs is "the one true way". Here

I just want to be able to build an app and put it on my phone, which I supposedly own, without having to jump through any of Apple's hoops. Is this lawsuit going to help me in any way?

"Embedded javascript to make them responsive " That sounds optional and a bit of JS for making things responsive certainly doesn't automatically create a CPU/Memory/Battery drain.

Amazon is doing all of the work of buying servers and hiring skilled professionals and setting up instances of Elastic and automating it so that you can easily rent a server to run it.

I would say not. Supporting a tyrant and a fascist by giving them your money is also despicable. If you buy your stuff used that's fine IMO.

You mean it proved my point? Mac users had to wait for Apple's permission to do it :) You generally can't do things on a Mac unless Apple allows it. You certainly can't do them the way you want to unless it coincides with the

Try telling HN that you can generally "only do what Apple allows you to do on a Mac" and how that basically makes it "less of a general purpose computer" than others and see how people respond. To be fair, I don't t

Never encountered this on the East coast, but if I did I'd have some fun with it. If they didn't give a list of choices I'd say my pronouns were Who and Whom. If they did provide a list of approved pronouns I'd complain

Pfft okay - if you only consider Apple's purposes I guess lol. On an M1 you can run exactly one OS - macOS. And in that OS you have to get permission from Apple to do all sorts of simple things, from running programs to blocking netw

People downvote me all the time without saying why. I figure it's because they don't like what I'm saying but they simply cannot come up with a good rebuttal. So whenever that happens, I feel like I've won. Thanks for al

Yeah, that's the OS that you have to run on the laptop in question is it not? So to actually be fair any criticism of the OS certainly applies to "the laptop", which would be a brick without the OS.

That's a silicon valley bubble POV. By all available stats, Macs are only used by about 25% of programmers. Windows is 50% and Linux is 25%. This developer has purchased a (used) Macbook Pro but only touches it to build into iOS-land.

Bundled or not is a completely arbitrary attribute defined by Apple to avoid competing. I can remove the Mail app if I want, but I can't leave a review to say why it sucks. That's not fair to every other email app out there. It&#x
