Awesome framework. All the quirkiness of ASP.NET is abstracted away from you (though you can still get to it if you need to). As a Rails developer you'll feel right at home with controllers, views, routing, and tests. The annoyances: - Ac

If you have a Rails background and couldn't stand classic ASP.NET, MVC is a godsend if you're ever forced to write a web app on the Microsoft stack.

If you think college is about the books and classes, you're missing the point. Most of the value is from meeting tons of new people your age with backgrounds very different from your own, learning to live on your own, and getting the piece

Having to install a plugin is kind of annoying, but Voxli is one of the simplest-to-setup, easiest-to-use voice chats I've ever used. Inviting someone to a chat via a URL is really convenient and I could really see this taking off.

I found the original linked page much more descriptive than the Ajaxian summary: http://www.cjohansen.no/en/ruby/juicer_a_css_and_javascript_... Juicer is written in Ruby. You need Java too if you want to use JsLint and YUI Compressor.

Not to be a naysayer, but I don't know that there's a lot you can do except run it yourself on a large, popular site that people have heard of. Companies like FriendFeed will use memcached cause LiveJournal/Facebook use it, they'll use MyS

Thanks for sharing. That was very educational. We store data in a really similar way at Spock, pointing all our reads at a big MySQL table which essentially just has an id column and a really big text column containing all the values, JSON

Even if you had a bad YC experience, it wouldn't be to your advantage to go public with it. You'd burn bridges for little gain. The only people who seem to bad-mouth investors are ones who've already made more money than they know what to

Another reason this happens in my opinion: If you graduate from a good college with a marketable degree, you get sucked right into a cushy job at a large company. If you never got that degree and don't have that job, you're not giving up a
