autoscaling isn't necessary to elicit downtime. Need to deploy a dev copy of your cluster? How about the CI/CD pipelines that are blocked? Go sit on your hands and wait it out. Almost 2 days now.

Repeatedly learned lesson: keep FS metadata as close to where you need the data as possible. Sharing or remoting metadata kept a last resort for when it's actually needed by the use case, as doing so always costs orders of magnitude in

IMO, Google used to be way better back when they had a policy against pre-announcing (15+ years ago). There was something magical about being able to announce and delight at the same time. Now it's become just a dumb game of showing th

Curious if this may be due to oem construction? Every motherboard I've used to build systems with has plenty of options in the firmware, APM being among the most user obvious. Integrated systems like laptops? Not so much.

People will downvote you because they are tired of these same lies and the people who spread them.

Is it fair to assume that it is just big oil and big agg that are lobbying for what is included in these climate change reports?

This may also mean "someone who finds staff" aka a sourcer. The person in the article seems to be talking about the placement of others that were sourced through the program they were in.

I don't know that this is the case for the lady in the article, but usually recruiters/sourcers at these companies are on contract for 12 months max, due to the hiring company not wanting them to appear as employees and thus not g

?? There is a whole industry built around network traffic analysis. What makes you think it doesn't happen on the internet?

This looks like NAT pushed down to the endpoint itself. You've saved the translation in the router, but now routing lookups and ARP caches have grown by TEMP_VALID_LIFETIME / TEMP_PREFERRED_LIFETIME. What are valid values in the s

The limit of changing addresses once every N seconds as N approaches 0 is equal to offline. With any usable N, a clever observer would still easily work out what you were doing and still map out your infrastructure.

This helps mitigate correlations over time but doesn't do anything to mask the identity of the node within a given refresh interval (default one day).

Every packet leaving an IPv6 network that isn't NATed has an effective node ID in the packet. No need to guess just look at the packets.

You're right; it isn't about saving a meg of ram. To Google Fuschia is about having a better (to them) alternative than Linux. GPL is a pain in the ass when working with hardware vendors and getting driver code produced. Fuschia i

Been using vi for just over 25 years now. The only thing I know how to do in emacs is exit :D vi uses the ctrl key a ton if you know what you are doing.

I almost exclusively exit vi using CTRL_W-CTRL-Q. It's a 3 finger chord that I use all the time to close vi windows. Makes sense that I'd use it to close the last one too.

I don't know about this "root key" setup you describe, but you can certainly program sets of yubikeys with the same OTP secrets at setup time, resulting in cloned/backup keys. The OTP secrets can also be stored (presuma
