Google's still trying to sell netbooks? Really? Sometimes I wonder if they are aware that the iPad has completely obliterated the market for underpowered/overpriced netbooks.

No, HTML5 audio actually kind of worked in iOS 3. But Apple plugged that whole and made sure it was fully sabotaged in iOS 4.

I think Facebook should cozy up to Mozilla and use Boot2Gecko. Facebook's strength is in their web presence, and by leveraging a web-oriented phone, they could offer something that doesn't compete directly with other handset makers.

Settings -> Safari -> Audio -> On/Off, or with a permissions dialog There is no good reason to have Audio off by default and have no way to turn it on for games.

It's impossible to build an iOS game for Safari that has sound. They've limited the API by only allowing a single audio channel that can only be used during touchscreen actions. You can't programmatically play a sound, eg like when a coll

Like how Apple has sabotaged the use of HTML5 Audio, I think it is unlikely they will enable WebGL. It provides developers an open platform for developing games, which conflicts with Apple's closed system agenda.

From the sounds of how violent the country is, I think Americans actually do need to have this level of control and suppression.

I think we're starting to approach a time period where lamenting over filesizes over 10KB should be a thing of the past. I have a fairly typical internet connection, and I can download 40 MEGABYTES in about 8 seconds.

I bet a lot of VC and angel investors right now are looking at those FB quotes and starting to get a knot in their stomach. The jig is up, the Social Network Bubble that VC's have been hyping and pumping non-stop for the past couple years

Yahoo is a dying company, quickly converting itself into a patent troll, and suing competitors in a desperate attempt to stay relevant long after they are. This is a dying company. I have ZERO respect for any employee of a company like th

Brought to you by a patent troll that thinks it invented the concept of a news feed, and is suing every web publisher that displays new information in a list. Who can possibly take this company seriously anymore?

They can sell some of their shares to private investors. A VC expects to earn many times their money on the investment... which requires dramatic and risky expansion of the business.

This is pretty light on details and it kind of makes no sense. Everyone loves the product and it's a (apparently very) profitable business. What can Andreesen Horowitz do to help them other than come in and do another bubbly ol' flipparoo
